While I initially found the open sky secured card to be helpful, it never graduates, and there are so many cards through your local credit union and secured cards through banks that do graduate.
Open sky also charges an annual fee, whereas most secured cards with banks and credit unions do not charge an annual fee at all.
Open sky claims that they now have a gold card, which is an unsecured card that you can graduate to, but I've never met ANYONE at all for whom they graduated their card. I think their promise of an unsecured card is like an empty trick, or just a carrot and stick game. Empty promises.
My husband and I kept our Open Sky secured cards way too long, six and seven years, long after we had other unsecured cards. And they still never graduated our card.
I would strongly suggest anyone considering a secured card to apply for a secured card with your local credit union, or through one of the banks offering secured cards.
Banks and credit unions offer a real path to a relationship and an unsecured card, where is open sky does not do either.

This card provides an excellent option to help you rebuild credit. It doesn't require a credit check, payments made online credit to your account quickly (within 1 business day), and it does help boost your credit score.
I agree with the reviews that say you need to apply for this card with a VERIFIABLE home address (not a mailing address) that matches with your own credit report. That's to prevent fraud. You need a driver's license with your actual home address on it that can be verified by the bank and the address on your driver's license also needs to match your credit report. You need to be a US citizen with your own social security number. Easy.
You also need to be realistic - don't make a payment at 11:45pm on the exact day the payment is due and then complain that the company credited you late. Don't mail in payments and wonder why they get it a week late. Don't say your payment got rejected and say it's the banks' fault. You know that isn't true. Keep track of your payments.
Pay online via their app - it is very easy. Their app works very well.
The longest I have had to wait to reach customer service is 20 minutes on hold, but that is pretty standard during COVID.
I've never had a problem using this card, it is a regular Visa and is accepted everywhere. I make my payments 2-3 days before my due date and have never had a problem at all.
I've had this card for 28 months now and am almost ready to go on to non-secured cards - but it has helped me a lot and I have never had any problems.

Excellent card to help you build or rebuild credit. As of February 2021, this card credits your payments to your account within 24 hours of you paying, and releases your available credit within 24 hours after your payment! Really helpful.
Never had any problems at all with this card after having it for several years. I think the people who are complaining either were not able to prove their identity or their physical home address to initially get approved for the card, or they have missed payments, or done something else incorrectly. I've never had a single problem with reaching customer service, on occasion there may be a 10-15 minute hold time due to busy times during COVID, which is fairly normal.
OpenSky is one of the few cards out there that will give you another chance to restart your credit. You WILL have to be able to prove your identity and your physical home address (not a PO Box or mailing address) when applying, and this is normal with any credit card to verify the person applying is the person he or she says they are, and to prevent fraud.

Got rejected by a few secured cards (and al with a hard inquiry). Glad to have found this card. The annual fee is worth not having any hard pull on your report.
Everything is been great so far. Payment is easy and I have never had any problems using the card anywhere.

The application process was very easy and this card has done it's job. After 6 months, my score has increased from 586 to 650. I have no other card, so perhaps it is time to get an unsecured card.

This is absolutely the best card for rebuilding. There is no credit checks and I can pay using my debit card. My TU score has gone up 50 points after 2 months of using this card. I highly recommend this card for rebuilders. Avoid cards with high fees (there are lots of them out there).

I got this card and the application process was easy. You have to send in your deposit when you apply. The thing I like about this card is that they is no credit checks and you do not need a bank account. I used my debit card to fund my deposit.
However, your deposit does not earn interest. So I would recommend not putting any more than you need in the account. They also have a payment hold of about 5 days for your account (at least for me until the 6th month).

I had this card for 2 years and everything went well. However, I had problems closing my account. I called customer service rep to close the account At that time, there was a $30 left on my account. So I transferred $30 from my bank account. The rep acknowledged that and closed the account. I thought that was the end of the story.
A few days later, I got an email saying I still had $30 left and they charged me a late fee. I called out customer service and explained the whole situation to them. She said that the $30 was not paid but agreed to waive that late fee. I thought this was all settled again until I got another email with the same story.
I have not resolved this but I am giving this a 1-star rating for this experience. To be fair, this card helped improved my credit score from low 500s to 710 now.

When I started off with this card, my credit score was really bad (around 515 area). I was declined for a few other secured credit cards (no kidding). Then, I did some research and found this card. It has a low annual fee, no credit checks and no monthly fees. I applied and was instantly approve though the card took a few days to arrive.
After 11 months (slightly less than a year) of using it for paying bills and my netflix account, my score increased by about 100 points. I managed to get a couple of no annual fee unsecured cards. Fast forward a year and a half and my credit score is now about 745. Timing is right as I am about to close on a house and I am getting the best mortgage rates.

I think this is one of the best cards for rebuilding. I was researching mortgage rates via Quicken Loans and even they recommended this card to rebuild your credit! I took their recommendation and got one myself. Within a year and a half, my scores have increased about 100 points. I still have ways to go to get prime mortgage rates, but what a great start.

The card is ok but customer service could use some improvements. They do not seem to be on the same page and often give me different answers to the same questions.
Having said all that, I have been using the responsibly and only charging like $35 a month on the card and paying it off on time and in full. My score has already gone up 40 points after 5 months.

This card has helped me rebuild my credit after my BK. I started off with a $300 deposit. I used the card to pay a couple bills. I always pay in full and on time. Within 6 months, my score has increased by 100 points. If you are looking to rebuild and reestablish your credit, this would be the card to get.

I made a lot of mistakes when I was younger and saw my score crash to 450. I got this card and deposited $200. I would only charge $20 a month. One was for my netflix account and they other when I had a meal out. Then I would put the card in my drawer and not use it. I would then pay it off in full every month as well. Within a year, my score has risen to 550.
If you are smart about how you use the card, you can recover from a bad score

My husband defaulted on one of the cards in which I was an authorized holder. My score took a hit and I was denied for both Cap1 secured and BOA secured. I was told my score was 488 with delinquencies. I did some research and found out that Opensky had no credit checks. I took a chance and was approved. Card arrived about 10 days later. After using it for 8 months and only about 15% on my credit line, my score is now 625.
I took a shot and applied for the capital one platinum and was approved for $300. I have got to thank Opensky for helping me rebuild my credit.

This was the first card that I applied for after my BK (2 weeks after discharge). I was approved and the card took about 7 business days to arrive. It has been 1 years and my score has increased fro 500 to 650. I spend about $30 to $50 a month and pay it off in full every month. That is all I have been doing. This is an excellent card to rebuild credit.

The website and online tools are bad. User interface is poor. They better revamp their website cos most other banks have much better websites than this.
Still I cannot complain about them giving me a chance with hard pull after I had been turned down by issuers like Credit One!

Here's my take on this card.
Pros
1. low starting deposit/limit ($200)
2. No hard pull
Cons
1. Payment hold (about 10 days) for up to 6 months before they process it in 48 hours.
BTW - my score went from 521 to 630 within a year.

I applied for both the Discover and Citi secured card and was denied. My Eq score dipped about 5 points because of the hard pull. I then applied for this card and cap one secured together (in 2 browsers) and got approved for both. My scores went up to 520 about a week later.
I like the fact that there are no credit checks. The bad thing is that they put your payments on hold for about 5-7 business days whereas with Cap One, they clear the next day.

My credit was hit hard and my score was 475 with 15 collections. I applied for a few sub-prime card but was denied. And I was also denied for a few secured cards! But Opensky gave me a chance and I deposited the minimum $200. I would have given this a 5-star if not for the payment hold (about 5 days).

I have only great things to say about this card. My score was 540 when I got approved. I started off with $500. After 3 months, my score had gone up to 650. Incredible! All I did was charge about $50 a month on the card and paid in full on time. I sent my checks a week early because they put a hold on your payment. But since I spend only $50 on the card (about 10% utilization), this has never been a problem. I also have about $40,000 of charge offs from 5 credit cards that have not dropped off (it will happen soon).
