I have unfortunately been using the Valero credit card since my car repair/gas station switched over to Valero. With a $1,000 limit and a $0.00 balance one might think it could be used to pay for a $385 car repair. Unfortunately it does not, nor is the Valero usage policy readily available on their website. In practical use, per Valero customer support there is a $150 per day usage cap, with a maximum $350 per time period cap. Customer support did not know the length of the time period: week? month? Per Customer support, this means that with $1,000.00 in available credit, I would need to pay $150 toward my $385 bill, go back to the service station a second day to pay an additional $150, go back to the service station a third day to pay an additional $50 (for a total of $350), and then use another credit card to pay the balance due!!! I have never had such an impractical credit card. I'm informed by Valero Customer support that their credit cards are really just meant to be used to pay for gas, not repairs at participating Valero stations. Additionally, it is not just me. The owner of my nearby Valero station tells me that he has this same problem with all his customers, ok for a tank of gas, good luck paying for a repair. One would think that Valero's credit usage policy should have been disclosed upfront.

Got this card because I use Valero. You could also use it at Shamrock Diamond which I do once in a while. I fill up about 60 gallons a month so that that qualifies me for the 4 cents a gallon tier.

The interest rate is high so I always pay my bills in full.

I got this card because there are lots of valero stations around where I live and also close to work. I started out with a $300 limit. After 6 months, I requested a $500 limit increase and was successful.

If you fill up between 50 to 74.9 gallons a month, you get 4 cents off per gallon. Above that, you get 8 cents. I do not drive a gas guzzler so I get to save 4 cents per gallon a month on the card.

It's a shame that this card is not a Visa or MasterCard and you can only use at their gas stations. For that, I give this a 3 star though it does help me to save some money on gas.

I have had this card for 2 years. I got it because my credit was not that great and because I do use Valero. I gave me an initial credit limit of $300. I usually utilize close to the credit limit (just on gas) and pay it off in full every month.

My credit scores have increased but Valero has never given me a credit line increase. I now have a Barclays card and a Capital One card and both give me much higher credit lines.

I am still keeping this card because it does help me save money on gas.

I do use Valero and I actually do fill more than 75 gallons in month. That qualifies me for earning 8 cents per gallon (for the month). But my starting credit limit was so low that I had to pay early just to free up my limits. After 2 months, I called Valero and told them my situation and asked for a credit line increase. They doubled it to $600. This is enough for me and frees me from the hassle of paying early to free up limits.
