I opened a Credit One Bank credit card due to an emergency. After paying off the balance, I called in to close the credit card because I didn't want to keep paying the annual fee, which is actually broken down into monthly charges unlike other credit cards I've had with annual fees. To keep me as a customer, they offered to waive the fees and give me a $25 credit if I kept the card open, so I agreed. Everything was fine at first, but after about 5 months they started charging me the fees again, conveniently after I racked up a new balance. I figured there was a mistake, but when I called in the rep I spoke to refused to acknowledge the agreement or even credit back that month's fee that I did not agree to. I would've closed it in the first place if I would've known they would bait and switch like that. I again asked them to close this credit card and they made sure to let me know that they will keep charging me the fees until the balance is paid off regardless of it being closed or not. I will never do business with them again. I've worked with numerous creditors and never had a problem with any of them until now so I feel that says a lot!
On top of that, when I did try to pay it off, payment was blocked/ delayed for "verification".

I bit the bullet after mailings every week for up to a $2000k limit pre-approved, only to get $300. I am disappointed as I can tell by other posts that my credit score is considered very good! Lesson learned on Credit One. I doubt I activate it just for the low limit.

When I got this card, I got approved for $300. My annual fee was $75 and from the second year, it was $99 to be paid monthly. I have had this card for over 2 years now and this has been my experience. I used to go close to the limit and many times I carried a balance. After I got a better job, I paid down the balance a lot more and Credit One gave me an automatic increase of $300. Now, my credit limit is $600. I recently got a promotion and decided to pay off my card. Within 2 months, my score has increased by 100 points. Yes, 100 points increase simply because I do not carry a balance now.
For those of you rebuilding and got this card, my advice is to pay off your balance every month. Your score will improve much quicker if you do this. If you continue to carry a balance, you will simply be running around in circles.

I have had a very positive experience with Credit One Bank. When I was approved for the card, I found out that my annual fee was $35 and my limit was $300. My score back then was 600. The annual fee was billed on the first statement, which I paid off. I always pay off my balance every month. BY the second month, I got an automatic credit line increase (did not have to pay for it) to $600. Then after six months, I got another increase to $900. My limit is now $1300.
My scores have also improved to over 700 and I am now getting offers from all mainstream issuers. If you pay your bills in full and on time, this card will definitely help you rebuild your credit. My improvement from 600 to 700 score happened within a span of 14 months.

If you go to other other forums, you will find so many complaints about this card. I can't understand why because my experience has been great so far. I got approved for $500 credit limit and my card version had no annual fee. I paid my bills in full and within 3 months, I had a $300 credit line increase to $800. BTW - this card also lets you earn 1% cash back on gas.
There are some complaints about payment holds. The max this has happened to me was just a few days. I never spend anywhere close to my limits (always keep it to 25%) and so that is never an issue.
If you are a rebuilder, definitely go with this card.

I applied for this card and got approved. The card arrived within 5 days after I accepted. My terms were $35 annual for the first year, then $75 for the second year. I got got a grace period of 25 days (so I guess I am one of the lucky ones). The $35 annual fee came with the first billing statement. I paid it off immediately and also pay off all my balances every billing cycle. Within 3 months, I got a $200 credit line increase to $500.
The terms and conditions are given to you before you accept so you can always not activate the card. They also have a mobile app which helps me monitor what is going on with the card.

I applied for this card after having 2 secured credit cards for 6 months in which I always paid in full. My score was 545 when I applied for Credit One. I got approved for $1000 credit limit, got a 25 day grace period and a $45 annual fee. After using my card for 4 months (in which I put only $150 on the card and paid it off in full), my score jumped 100 points to about 650. I am really not sure if this is solely due to Credit One or perhaps it is a cumulation of my rebuilding efforts (Credit One is my third card).
You can also earn 1% cash back on the card and they have a mobile app. You can also check your credit score for free and it is actually quite close to my EXP score. So far, I am happy with it.

Am in the process of rebuilding and decided to get this card. I got approved with a $35 annual fee, 18.99% APR and a credit limit of $500. The $35 got posted in the first billing statement. I paid it off immediately and was given $150 credit line increase! So immediately, my limit went up to $400.
I have yet to use the card at a gas station so we'll see how the 1% gas cash back goes. I enrolled in the free credit score program (which is free) and I look forward to monitoring my credit score. So far, this card has been ok.

I got this card 3 months ago. I started out with a $400 credit limit and was given an annual fee of $75 which was posted to my first bill. I paid that off and charged about $200 a month on the card. I always paid in full. Just a week ago, I got a $200 credit limit increase without asking. Can't complain about that. Having said that, I will still be only charging about $200 a month on the card.
I hope to cancel the card before the year is up because I do not want to pay the second year annual fee (which is $99 and paid over 12 months). I guess it will depend on where my score is and whether I can get a lower annual fee card or better still, a no annual fee card.

I have had this card for 8 months and I think I will definitely cancel it before the first year is up. I started with a $300 credit limit and unlike some other posters here, I have not managed to get a credit limit increase even though I requested one. I do carry a very small balance sometimes but I think I will be paying off the balance from now onwards and see if I could get a no annual fee store card. If I do, then I will close this card.
I do not like the annual fee, but I know I have bad credit. I checked with the bureaus and Credit One does report to all three. For rebuilding, this is an OK card.

I have had this card for 9 months and just closed it. When I first applied, my score was 560 and I was given a $300 credit limit. The first bill came and I was given a $75 annual fee, which I paid off immediately. For the first 2 months, I put $50 on the card and paid it off. They then gave me an auto CLI of $200, bringing my limit to $500. I did not have to pay any fee for this increase.
The card is actually ok but for the fact that the version I got had no grace period. So I had to watch it like a hawk. Within 8 months, my score had gone up 100 points. I now have a Cap One with $1000 CL and a couple of no annual fee store cards. Called up customer service to cancel. They obviously tried to keep me but I told then straight up that I wanted to cancel and it was done.
I would say this card is ok to rebuild. Once you get better cards, it is time to move on.

When I applied for Credit One, my score was 590. I was given a $500 CL and annual fee of $35. Rate was 20% I think but since I pay in full, it does not bother me. After 2 months, I got an automatic CLI to $700.
So far, my experiences have been good. I still have the card and the annual fee is still $35. Unlike others who got the $75 AF for 1 year then $99 for 2nd year version, I will happy live with a $35 annual fee until I have enough no annual fee cards.

When I was discharged from BK, Credit One was the only issuer that approved me. My card has no annual fee (yes, no AF) and I was given a $1000 limit. I guess this is rare but perhaps since everything was discharged in my BK, that helped?
This card has been good to me and my score is now in the high 600s. I'll probably still keep the card since it costs me nothing.

As part of my rebuilding process, I finally bit the bullet and applied for Credit One. I was approved for $300 and the annual fee was only $35 with no monthly fee. Interest rate was 19%. I was billed the annual fee on the first statement. After activation, I paid it off and within a month, they increased by credit limit to $450. I did not have to pay any fee for the CLI and I was informed through email.
One thing I noticed was that I was able to get my "credit score" when I log into my account. I was wondering if it is a real FICO or a FAKO?

Credit One is not the best card for rebuilding, but it is also far from the worst. If you look at the fees of other cards like First Premier, Total, Continental Finance, all of them charge higher annual fees and monthly fees and all have higher APRs. Credit One only charges an annual fee. I got mine with a $35 annual fee and a $400 limit. I was given an automatic CLI of $200 after 2 months!
There are some things that I do not like about this card. Firstly, mine has no grace period so I tend to pay after a charge has been made. But I also found out that Credit One will not allow more than 3 times a month. Once you have paid 3 times, you will have to wait until your statement arrives before you could pay off the rest of the balance. If you use the free payment, your funds will be on hold for about 4 days (from my experience).
Having said that, they do have a cash back program (though with the limits they give you it would not amount to much). They also give you a free EX score. While it is not advertised as a FICO score, the score Credit One has is identical to my EX FICO.
Best advice is to just charge one item to your card. In my case, I charge my hulu monthly bill to the card. Once it hits, I pay it off so at most, I incur a few cents of interest payments. Once your score improves and you have other no annual fee cards, then it is time to "cut the cord"!

I got approved for Credit One when no one else was willing to give me a chance. I knew my credit was bad, made sure I read the terms and conditions so that there would be no surprises.
My card had a $75 annual fee, $300 initial credit limit and a higher APR (can't remember). I just charged $20 a month on the card and paid in full. After six months or so, I started getting random credit line increases. My limit is now $600. Also, they do give you 1% cash back on gas. But there is no grace period so I made sure I paid immediately after the charges appear.
It's been over 2 years and my score is now in the 700s. I have capital one and recently a barclays. Once I got my Barclaycard, other offers from Chase, Discover and Amex started miraculously appearing. I have closed my credit one card. It is not the best card but it did serve it's purpose of helping me rebuild.

I got this card to rebuild my credit. The annual fee is $75 and I got a $300 limit. After using the card for a year, I got offered a $250 credit limit increase for $14.95. I accepted it and now my limit is $550. Into my second year, my annual fee is $99, which is paid monthly ($8.25).
The card is ok and my aim is to get a couple of no annual fee cards before I cancel this one. Hopefully, that would be soon. The only peeve I have with this card is that they have put my payments on hold for as long as 14 days. After a year or so, it got much better and now at max, the hold is 4 days.

I got approved for the Credit One Visa with a $75 annual fee and a $300 credit. Unlike others, I did not get any automatic credit line increase. After one year, when I logged into my account, I was offered a Mastercard version with a $45 annual fee, $500 limit and 19.99% apr. I accepted it but after another 6 months, I applied and got a credit one and a barclays apple financing card. I have closed both my Credit One cards and save a ton of fees. It has served it's purpose and it is time to move on.

I used to have this card and finally canceled it when my score reach 700 and I was able to get regular no annual fee cards. One experience I want to share is that sometimes, folks will run into payment hold issues. Most people would not have any issues but here is some advice for those who have run into problems like I have.
1. Expect that you may face some payment holds.
2. If you are paying from your bank account, try to pay early (like 2 to 3 weeks in advance) and double check to make sure the payment clears.
3. Send your checks early if you want to pay by check.
4. Have a prepaid debit card in hand in case you need to use express pay (which has a $10 fee). This is the fastest way to pay and the least problematic.
Most folks run into problems with bank payments because of mistakes in giving the routing number and stuff like that. It is best to set it up immediately when you activate your card.

Credit One was the only unsecured card willing to give me a chance. They started me with a $300 credit limit. After making four payments (not billing cycles - but four payments over 2 months), I got an automatic credit line increase of $400. My total limit became $700. After a year of using it, my score went from 590 to 675. I got approved for Cap One Quicksilver One and a Walmart card. Another feature not frequently mentioned is that you earn 1% cash back on gas. Which sub prime card has even a reward program?
Anyway, after getting the Cap One and Walmart, I got offers from Discover and managed to get the IT with a $3000 limit. I have just cancelled my Credit One. It has served me well and I am moving on.

I was given a $300 limit when I got the card. My annual fee was $75 which was billed immediately on the first statement. I paid that off immediately and just used the card for small expenses like my netflix account. When I get the bill, I simply pay it out with the online standard payment. I have never been late and always pay in full. After 8 months with the card, I got a $200 credit limit increase. I also just recently checked my score and it has improved to 600 from 530.

I knew what I was getting into when I got this card. I had to pay the annual fee after the first billing statement. During the second year, I had to pay the annual fee in installments. I merely spend about $30 a month on the card and pay it off immediately when I get the statements. My score has gone up quite since I got the card and I look forward to the day when it I have a 700 score.

I went through a divorce and had to rebuild my credit. This card helped me along the way. I did a lot of research before I took the plunge and it turned out that the fees and rates were "OK" compared to others. The app is user friendly and I never had problems paying online. Customer reps were clearly from overseas but I understood them.
