I worked for Wal-Mart from 2001-2003 between the ages Prime 19 And 21. I was declined for the Wal-Mart card every time I tried to apply. Here it is, sixteen years later, and I've still been declined by them, and my curent employeer, Lowe's (both through Synchrony bank) everytime I apply. What is the required credit score to get one?

I cant believe how credit Karma and everyone is saying how easy it is to get A Walmart card. I have unsecured bank card with a $700 limit and one with a $1500 limit after filing for chp7 a year ago due to enormous medical bills with no insurance. Unbelievably my credit score is still at all 3 bureaus in the high 6-700's. I received online a letter stating I was denied. Awesome. After thinking it over,Im really glad because I dont need another monthly bill. I need to save instead of spending anyway. Thank you Walmart.

I have a Equifax score of 588, which isn't the highest although perfect payment history on all my credit cards and loans in past 2 years. I was declined for the Walmart credit card online. I wonder how other people are getting approved with lower scores and late payment history!

First I'll start with the positives about Walmart Rewards Mastercard.
1. High credit limit, so you assume it would be reliable for trips.
2. You can pay your credit card bill in store, I was told that it goes straight into your card and there is no 3-5 business day wait for it.
3. You can access all your transactions online with no need to use your phone to call them.
4. 24/7 hr access to their fraud department.
Here are the negatives about having a Walmart Rewards Mastercard.
1. You're not aloud to see your pending transactions online.
2. If you call them inquiring about your pending transactions they will have a hard time taking the time to tell you the transactions that are pending and they will interrupt you and cut you off and use the whole, "poor me, I gotta work!?" attitude, also they won't transfer you to someone that can actually help you.
3. You can't get a list of your transactions or pending transactions in store.
4. If you put money on your card in store, it does not go in right away it takes 3-5 business days.
5. If you call the fraud department on a Sunday night about a suspected fraud they will tell you that they can't help you with that and to call back in the morning.
The only other credit card I've had was from Capital One.
1. You can review your purchases, as they are being made online, or from their mobile app.
2. They have round the clock customer service.
3. If they suspect their is a fraud they will contact you personally.
4. They are also a great start to building your credit.

WM/SAMS CC's SUCK , and so does SYNCHRONY banks suck as well. I have a $100 limit with WM .
I am a responsible CC user, sometime my balances are high, some times I pay %100, zero balance. I USE MY CARDS, is not that why we have them ?
I have a 677, great debt to income ratio, no BK, nothing, no puke on my credit. Not perfect credit (which NO ONE has), but responsible use of my cards and credit overall.I would like to mention that I have %100 payment on time history, no over credit limit...NOTHING NEGATIVE
About 2 weeks ago, I get a letter fro SYN bank and WM card account , stating that my credit limit has been reduced to $100...WTF is that all about ? The reason ? stated in the letter " to much use of credit, high balance," OH MAN I AM PISSED OFF.
After a call to WM service ( which was an excellent and professional call) I cancelled that wonderful WM and SAM's Card. I will still shop there, it because ma and pa store are not open at 2am and have ready made pizza.
That letter from SYN and WM, just finished my credit life.
I am trading ALL of my CC's in for CASH, I will NOT pay for some company VIP to take a 2 week cruise on my hard earned money.
I will never wait for a dreaded 7-10 letter telling me how bad of a consumer I am.
With that said, I think SYN bank is a criminal and from this point on, I will have my cash in a jar or in a STOCK.
Good luck to all, I hope this motivates the people whos lifes are owned by CC companys...

I was just denied with credit scores of 653 (exp), 667 (efx), and 738 (tu). I don't know why anyone would apply here to build credit if they don't approve applications with those scores. Seems pointless. By the looks of the reviews, I guess I should be grateful. Also worth mentioning... I was approved for a CapitalOne credit card.

I had a Walmart credit card for 40 years which was Montgomery wards and sold out to walmart. My credit limit was $3000 with 780 fico. Became ill and wasn't able to work and forced into BK. Now the BK was discharged Dec 2017. My scores are jumping all over the place. C Karma has me at 730 fico. Others 691, 696. Cap one 691, and some at 596 & 609 etc. It is hard to tell what form they will use I really want my Walmart card back. I never had a late payment in 40 years until the BK. Now my income is less retired with #3900 per month. Do you think Will Walmart deny me now if I apply?

Credit card was immediately decreased due to non usage without my knowledge. From 1400 to 700. When I contacted them they said they sent a letter out 2 weeks ago. Then all of a sudden after contacting them I get sent a letter in the mail two days later. Cancelled my card, My husbands and my parents. 4 cards total. No need for a lousy 700 credit limit to offset any of our credit scores.

I applied a couple times always denied... I first tried I was below 500 credit score... now I have worked hard and in 6 months am at 628 I want to try again as my other cards are both secured - but I am afraid of the hit on my score for trying and being denied again ==== I see others with far lower scores being approved.... I know theres more to it than that but shouldn't be so difficult.. much of whats on my report are medicals from being uninsured.... and unemployed... they really should make it easier for second chances

I have had this card since December of 2015. I applied when purchasing a gift for Christmas. I was instantly approved for $300. I have paid on time every month and most months before my payment is actually due. I have even paid it off in full twice since having it. I have requested a credit limit increase several times and have been denied. I know that I do not have a great score, but my payment history is excellent. I had some financial problems arise when the economy crashed so I do have some dings on my credit. Mostly medical bills though. I am very disappointed that they refuse to increase the credit limit.

I only applied because I heard it was easy to get a store card. I was denied, but I'm going to try to get a recon by asking for a store card for $150. I have some bad items on my credit, but they are several years ago, and my scores have been improving greatly as things drop off. If I can't get a store card, I guess I'll have to go with a secured card. Now I'm sort of angry because this will ding my scores and I make it harder to get a secured card.

I was just approved online for $700.00. I currently have a credit score of 634 Experian and 620 with Transunion. The following is my credit background:
BK Chp 7 - discharged 2013
Two fairly new personal loans, each $2,000.00
First Premier Credit Card; Merrick Bank Credit Card and Capital Card - all cards are a few hundreds of dollars of being maxed out, but I pay on time every month and try to pay at least double the minimum payment. It should be noted that I have stopped using the first two cards for several months now until I lower the balances.
