Quick Introduction

Both the Milestone and Indigo credit card are marketed by Genesis Financial Services. They are very similar in many aspects though they have different bank issuers. We'll compare both these cards next and see which is better.

Both Milestone and Indigo make you go through a pre-approval process with no impact on your credit score (ie soft pull). Based on your credit report, you might be offered any one of these offers. If you were to compare them side-by-side, a few things stick out. The first is that Milestone has some offers where they charge a monthly fee whereas Indigo does not charge any monthly fee at all for all. So the offers from Milestone that have monthly fee are clearly not as competitive as those from Indigo's other versions.

However, both Milestone and Indigo share many similar versions. The $59, $75, $99 and $125 annual fee versions are essential similar. Indigo has a no annual fee version which Milestone does not have. And Milestone has a $1,000 credit limit version (with a $75 annual fee for the first year and then $49 thereafter) which Indigo does not have.

Other Similarities

The Milestone and Indigo are similar in the following ways:

  • Both Marketed by Genesis Finanical Services - Both the Milestone and Indigo credit card are marketed by Genesis Financial Services and have the following similarities.

  • No Credit Limit Increase - Both cards do not offer any credit limit increase. Once your credit limit is set, it is fixed for as long as you have the card.

  • Pre-approval Process - Both credit cards require you to go through a pre-approval process where they will do a soft pull without impacting your credit score. If you are are pre-approved, you will be shown the terms and conditions that you will be given. You can then decide if you want to proceed to apply (this second step will involve a hard inquiry on your credit report).

  • No Mobile App - Unfortunately, both these cards are slightly behind the times and still do not have a mobile app.

Other Differences

Which is better? Milestone or Indigo credit card?

Which credit card is better depends on what terms and conditions you get pre-approved for. Because both cards offer you a variety of terms and conditions depending on your credit profile (and many of them are similar), some versions are better than others. For example, the no annual fee version of the Indigo Mastercard is great because it has no annual fee while the $1,000 credit limit version of Milestone is great for the credit limit though there is a $75 annual fee for the first year and $49 from the second year onwards.

Milestone has a $35 annual fee version which Indigo does not have. But for the $59 annual fee version, Milestone has a $300 or $700 credit limit version whereas Indigo only has a $300 credit limit version for the $59 annual fee version. So Milestone is better in this case.

Milestone could offer you versions with monthly fee (which Indigo does not have). I would avoid them because the fees are too high.

To sum up, because both cards offer so many versions with different fees, it is hard to say which card is better. It depends on what terms you are offered. As both cards make you go through a soft pull pre-approval process, you should go through the process with both cards (and possibly others that offer a soft pull pre-approval process). The two things you have to bear in mind for these two cards is that they do not increase your credit limit and they do not have any mobile apps.
