Is Milestone Credit Card A Good Card?

This is one of the better unsecured credit card for rebuilders. It has a reasonable annual fee and does not charge any one-time application or processing fee and monthly fees. Rather than apply first and risk a hard pull, you first pre-qualify (only soft pull) and if you do pre-qualify, you can then decide if you want to proceed to get the card.

It is ok to apply for this card even if you have just emerged from bankruptcy and there do not check your income. However, it is best that you have a score between 575 and 600 for best chances of approval.

For those of you looking to add another credit card to your rebuilding efforts, this is one card you can consider.

My credit was not in the best of shape before Covid 19 and since the pandemic hit, I was fortunate to be considered an essential worker and had a job. My income was ok as well. I decided to really work on my credit and decided to get an unsecured credit card. I got rejected by Credit One and even First Premier. After getting pre-approved, I pulled the trigger and got approved. My annual fee was $75.

My score jumped 25 points after I got approved and they do report after the first statement. They also do bill you the annual fee on your first statement. Like others have said here, there is no phone app and the website is dated. But after using this for a few months, my score has improved and it is now about 630. I do charge about $58 a month (my hulu bill) and pay it off every month.

I got of bankruptcy during May, at the height of Covid 19 and I lost my job. I took unemployment for a while but managed to get a job in July. My score coming out of BK was 560. I decided to go straight for an unsecured credit card rather than a secured card and decided on Milestone.

I tried the pre-approval and did get pre-approved indeed. Then I decided to pull the trigger and got approved. My annual fee was $35. They billed me that amount during the first billing statement. So far this card has been ok. Like almost everyone here has said, their website is dated and they have no app. But they still approved me after BK and only a short "recent income" history. So I am grateful.

Do not get this card. Not sure if other folks experience this but for me, they put a 14 day hold after I paid my bills. I checked the terms and conditions and they do say they might put a hold on your payment for up to 14 days. That means you have to wait two weeks for your payment to clear until your credit limit is restored. I now only charge a very small amount every month to the card. None of my other cards have such issues.

I got this card three months after my BK was discharged. I was approved for a $300 CL and a $99 annual fee. The card took a few weeks to arrive and once I activated it, I was sent my first bill with the $99 annual fee on it. I pay it off immediately. I checked my scores and they also went up about 25-30 points pretty quickly. I have been using the card for one and a half years and my score has steadily risen to about 585. I also managed to get a Fingerhut and a sears store card as well.

I got this card about 2 months after my BK was discharged. Before that, I got approved for Cap One secured and Opensky. So this was my first "unsecured" card. These 3 cards helped me rebuild and after 2 years, my score has risen over 100 points. All I do is merely put about $30 each month on each card and pay it off in full. I send my checks early to make sure I am never late.

I have since gotten 2 capital on cards and a couple of store cards. I have also canceled all 3 cards that I got earlier since I do not want to continue paying those annual fees.

I got the milestone about 4 months after my bankruptcy was discharged. My annual fee was $99 and the credit limit was $300. After the card arrived and was activated, I got the first bill with the $99 AF on it. I paid it off immediately so I had the full $300 limit. I checked my credit report after I got approved and saw about a 25 point improvement in all my scores. I used the card to very little (about $15 to $25) a month just to put something on it. I PIF every month as well. Not long after I got this card, I also applied and was approved for fingerhut and a credit one. The credit one came with a $75 AF.

After about a year, my scores had improved from 512 to 605. Since I had 3 cards, I cannot really attribute this solely to milestone. I never had any problems with the card though I did notice that like what others have said here, they do not increase your credit limit. My fingerhut started at $250 and now it is $750. Credit one started at $300 and after six months, they increased it to $500.

My goal is to get a couple of no AF cards and then cancel both this card and credit one. Fingerhut has no annual fee, so I'll probably keep that for a bit.

I applied 3 months after my chapter 7 BK. Got approved for $300 and it came with a $99 annual fee. I never had any problems with the card. I charge $20 a month to the card and pay it off in full. I have had it for a year and a half and my score has increased 70 points. I have not had any credit increase though. From my experience, this card is definitely BK friendly.

Got approved with a $75 and $300 limit. I only charge about $25 a month on the card and PIF. After I got the card, my scores went up 35 points. After another 7 months, they went up a further 50 points across all 3 credit bureaus. I was then able to get a Capital One and even a barclaycard. This card has served it's purpose and I will be cancelling it.

There are some things that will put folks off. For example, they may put a payment hold for 7 days. They do not have autopay and they also have no app. Website is clunky to say the least.

Applied and was approve but got the card is a couple of week. Annual fee post straight away on the first bill and is reported to the bureaus if you do not pay it off.

The good:
1. easy to get
2. no issues with payment

The bad;
1. I have not gotten any credit line increases.

bottom line is that if you pay your bills in full, then there will be no problems. My score improved a lot with this card and a fingerhut.

I spent hours looking at other cards and I decided to get this card. I have bad credit, so low limits and high annual fees appear to be part of the deal. This card is better than cards like Total, First Access, Surge, Verve and 1st Premier. These cards all charge monthly maintenance fee and processing fees.

Stick with this and maybe a fingerhut or credit one and you will build up your scores again.

Applied, was approved and the card came in 10 days. My AF was $75 and my limit was $300.

The bad thing about this card is that there do not give you any credit increases.
