I was trying to rebuild my credit and applied for cards like Capital One and got denied. Then I figured I should just apply for a USAA card since I was a member. I was approved and deposited $500 for my CD. So far everything has been great. I just charge $50 a month on the card and my scores should improve over the next 12 months or so.

I filed BK 2 years ago and on hindsight, I should have started my rebuilding process immediately. But it's better late than never. USAA gave me a chance with this card. I put $1000 initially as my deposit and have increased it to $1500. My credit scores have also improved 50 points since then. I only charge about $200 on the card a month and I pay in full.

I was considering getting an unsecured credit card to rebuild my credit. But after a lot of research, I realized that the annual fees were just ridiculous. There was one time fees, annual fees and monthly fees and the rates were like 29%. I decided to go the secured credit card route because you can get your deposit back. In the case of USAA, you actually earn interest (though it is not much). So far, my scores have increase 50 points already and I am very happy.

I started out with $2000 in deposit with USAA. I like the fact that there is no foreign transaction fees. Went on vacation twice abroad and this card saved me 3% which other card usually charges.

I started with this card to rebuild. I put $1500 to start and it has stayed that way. My scores were kind of mid 500s. After a year, they have improved to about 620 and I started getting offers for unsecured cards. I applied for a couple and got approved. I have a few months before I reach the end of the 2yr period for the CD. I might apply for a USAA unsecured card and cancel this. It will have served it's purpose.

Had this card for 1 year. Started with a $1500 deposit and limit. I spent about $150 on the card every month and paid in full and always on time. After about 14 months, I decided to try my luck and got the USAA classic. I got approved for $3000. I score had risen up to 650 by that time.

Credit took a hit because of medical bills. And I got rejected by both capital one and us bank. Then I decided to try usaa since I have been a member and got approved. Started at $500. Hope to get an unsecured card in 2 years.

Before I got this, I got a Kohl's store card. I was toying with the idea of getting an unsecured visa but the fees were really high for the usual suspects (Credit One, FP etc). So I decided to get a secured card instead and managed to get approved for USAA.

I filed chapter 13 2 years ago and decided to rebuild with USAA since I was a member for a few years. I believe you have to be a full member to get the secured card. I was previously rejected by Capital One (whom everyone says is a sure thing!). They do pay interest (though not much).

I got this card to rebuild. Put $1500 into it. After 4 months, my scores went up 50 points. After 6 months, I was pre-approved for one of USAA's unsecured visa cards. I applied and got approved and then canceled the card before the next annual fee.

After I got my card, I check with the 3 credit bureaus and found out that USAA reports as unsecured.

This is really one of the best secured credit cards around. You can start with $250 and increase your limit up to $5000. You can choose to increase your deposit alone or your credit limit as well. The annual fee is reasonable and they report as unsecured.
The only issue I have with this card is that occasionally they might put your payments on hold and they also do not graduate. Other than that, it is a fantastic card.
