I have been with USAA for 20 years. But I only got this card recently. Always had their checking account and have had a couple of auto loans with them. And also have their insurance. When I decided to get a credit card from them, I chose this one because it was a Visa. Didn't want an Amex because they are not as widely accepted. USAA's has fantastic customer service.

I was perfectly happy with my mastercard until USAA switched me to this visa card. This caused a lot of inconvenience because I had to contact all my autopay accounts and change them. It was a really frustrating exercise.

The change from Mastercard to Visa was a real pain. You have to make sure you call every one on your auto pay list. I had a couple of payment issues with 2 of them which were (thankfully) resolved.

Have been a USAA member for quite a while and have their checking account. I decided to give their credit cards a shot and ended up with this one.
Their payment and communications methods could be improved a lot. Firstly, their statements and website do not really make it clear which is your present statement and which is in your most transactions. They kind of lump it together.
Secondly, they do not send emails alerting you as to whether you have scheduled an online payment or auto payment. I sent a payment twice because I was not sure and USAA said they could only apply it as a credit to my next payment. This really messed up my budgeting.
They really have a lot of work to do on their computer system, website and email communications.

I have a USAA checking account. And I decided to get one of their rewards card because their customer service has been excellent. I applied over the phone and got approved. But after a few months, I was researching other cards and realized that in terms of rewards, this card falls short compared to others (even ones I had). Many issuers give 2%, 3% or 4% on gas, travel or some other type of spending.
USAA should look at their rewards features and up their game.

Have a score of 676 from EQ (which I believe they pulled). Approve for $5000. Previously, I had their USAA secured visa for 2 years. The card does not graduate, so I decided to get this card.

I signed up for this card because of the 0% intro apr offer. I decided to get a tricked out gaming computer and take advantage of the 0% deal. When the first statement came, I noticed that I was charged the interest rate. I called CSR and they acknowledge that it was their mistake and the interest was waived. But the same thing happened for the next 3 months and then, USAA said that my card did not have the promotion! I simply paid off the whole balance and canceled the card.

I was online paying for a hotel stay and airline tickets. The cost was about $2000. I took out my wallet and typed in my USAA's card number. But the card was declined. And I do not understand why. My limit is $15000. And I've only charged $1000 to it. In order to avoid losing the seat and room, I took out my Visa from Chase and it went through!

My score was 755 and I got a $20000 credit line.

Like many here, I am a full usaa member. And customer service is always great with them. However, when I was traveling in Europe last summer, the card could not be used at road tolls and train stations. I had called usaa before I left for the trip to activate the 4 digit pin code. So I ended up carrying a lot of coins. If you travel to Europe, better find a proper chip and pin card. USAA's pin does not work even if they say it is chip and pin.

I was (and maybe still in) a credit rebuilding mode.I had a secured card from a credit union as well as the usaa amex secured card. I wanted to get a regular unsecured card and decided to go this rewards card. I avoided the amex version because visa is more widely accepted. I applied and was instantly approved. Believe they pulled EQ (score was 645) and they gave me a nice $5000 limit.

usaa needs to seriously work on their credit card website. They need a different column as to which items have been paid off and which has not been. I also have not been able to categorize my expenses. Each time I try to do it, it takes me back to the beginning home page (like it is in a closed loop). I have a couple of other cards from other issuers and all have much better websites.

I have been a usaa member for 15 years and have been very happy as far as customer service goes. When I applied for this card, I knew I wanted a rewards card. It was between this card and other amex offerings. I did not want the amex ones because they are not accepted everywhere. My score was pretty good (800) and I got a nice $18k line.
Lately, I have been research other rewards card and realize that my usaa visa is not that great as far as rewards go. Other card offer 2X or 3X on things like gas and groceries. USAA's amex version goes but not their Visa. I wish they could improve on the features of this card.

Score was 640 area and I was in the process of rebuilding. I had been rejected by a couple of mainstream banks before and decided to give it USAA a shot. I applied and got approved with a $4000 limit.
After a couple of months, I noticed I was getting frequent calls about fraudulent transactions. They were all false because I was shopping at my grocery store and occasionally sears and walmart. There have been a couple of times where my card was rejected at the checkout line and I had to use my other cards before I could call usaa.
The fraud detection alert appears to be overzealous to me.

I started out my relationship with USAA with an auto loan. It helped me save like $40 a month from my previous insurer. Their customer service has been wonderful and they always treat their members well. I later opened a checking account and the service has been fantastic as well. When I wanted to get a new credit card, I figured out why not USAA even though they are not really mainstream. They have Amex, Visa and Mastercard offerings but I decided to go with Visa because they are the most widely accepted.

Their fraud detection is excellent. Got a text and message once about a fraudulent charge on my card that was out of state. They denied it and I verified it was not me. Card was canceled immediately and a new one arrived a couple of days later.
I would give this a 5 star if not for the fact that other cards give more points on things like gas etc

USAA has wonderful customer reps. They are friendly, knowledgeable and treat their customers well. However, the website needs a drastic improvement. I can never figure out which of the items are under the current billing cycle and which is the past cycle. I also cannot figure out the exact amount that will be taken out of the current billing cycle.
USAA should seriously look into this and redesign the interface of their website where the statements are.

My relationship with USAA started when I was trying to rebuild my credit. I started off with a secured Visa. After 2 years when the CD expired, I decided to try to get an unsecured card. At that time, my score had improved to slightly over 700. After speaking to the customer rep, I decided to apply for the rewards Visa. I was approved with a $5000 limit.
So far, everything has been great. Customer service is excellent (like many have mentioned here).

So I applied and got my first card with USAA. Score was 673 and had a $6000 CL. It was the holiday season and I went on a shopping spree. Spent close to the max. When it came to payment time, I wired money electronically from another bank account to USAA. After 3 days, I went for some last minute christmas shopping but card was declined. I found out the next day (after some angry calls with CSR) that they put my payment on hold for 7 days. They said that they needed to build trust since this was the first payment. What a load of bull. When I spoke to my bank, they were scratching their heads also. They said at most a 2 day hold if there was ever one!

Here's my story about customer service that really impressed me. I was using my card to shop for a TV online. I got a call from USAA asking if I knew my card was being used for a large online purchase. I told them yes, and that it was me buying my TV.
I was really impressed with this and am really confidant that they will spot any fraudulent charges.

There are plenty of good things to say about this card. I like the fraud alert and the rewards.
The one thing that could be greatly improved upon is the online user interface. When I look at my bill, the items under the previous cycle (which have already been paid) still shows up and to me, that is a little confusing. Wish they could take care of this.

Overall, there is a lot to like about this card. Customer service is great. Rewards are good.
But there is one thing that USAA should consider and that is to remove the foreign transaction fee totally. When I am on duty abroad, I get charged foreign transaction fees. Sometimes, I have to pay medical bills with the card and I can never get reimbursed for that.

The rewards are great and so is the customer service.
But I have to give this card a 3 star because I find finding the statements online difficult. I have other cards and when you log into your account, there is always a link to your statement on the home page. And like others have mentioned here, there is no separation of items that have been paid in the previous cycle and those that will be in the present cycle. I expect a big institution like USAA to be able to have a more user friendly billing statement and website.

I was looking for a new credit card as my existing ones had high rates and customer service wasn't to my expectations. I already had a checking account with USAA as well as an auto loan in the past which has long been paid off. I decided to call to apply over the phone (since I do not like doing transactions online). After guiding me through the various options, I settled on this card and so far, I can say that customer service with USAA is still the best.

Ok - so I am quite happy that I got approved for this card despite having a lousy credit score. Having said that, the payment system is ridiculous. After I sent money from my banking account, it takes 7 days before the payment clears with USAA. That means if you are close to your credit limit the previous month, you have to wait 7 days before you can use the card. I simply don't understand how a big institution like USAA can have such a lousy system.
