Odd credit limit. I always use my AMEX which has a $30K credit limit, but that is irrelevant since I pay the charges off every month. I guess since it's target it shouldn't matter a whole lot, but the fact that I have credit card companies begging me to take their high limit cards and target gives me a $600 limit is beyond bizarre. I probably spend $1500 a month there so I'm not sure how this is going to work out. I grabbed the card after realizing they give 5% cash back, but my AMEX gives 3-5% depending on the items so I might end up just canceling the card.

Had the card since 2013. Original limit at half my current income was $3,000. 2 years ago the limit was raised to $8,000. Now the limit is $600.00. Reason given? A good credit report is too good for them. I'm not kidding. I guess keeping the card paid off with rarely having a revolving amount lasting more than a few months is too risky.

I am in the process of rebuilding my credit and decided to get the Target card since a new Target store just recently opened about 10 minutes from my house. I do shop at Target and so far I have had no problems at all using the card. In fact, I love using the card online since shipping is free if you do that.
When I first got the card, my starting limit was $500. Over the last year or so, I have gotten a few credit line increases and my limit is now at $2500. Frankly speaking, I do not need any more increases since I will hardly spend anywhere close to that amount at a Target score in any given month. I also never had to call customer service but overall service at Target is good and I would assume that it will be the same for their telephone support.

My credit score was in the 500s when I first started to rebuild. When my score reached 600, I decided to apply for the Target card as I do shop at Target. The first year so great. I loved earning the 5% cash back and go there at least once a week. I started off with a $200 credit limit and after about a year and several CLIs later, my credit was at $2,000. Frankly speaking, unless you really buy big ticket items, that credit limit was enough for my purposes.
Then I had to move and there no target near my new house. So I stopped using the card and maybe only used it for about a couple of times a year. One day, I received a mail from Target telling me that my limit has dropped back to $200! The reason they gave was that I had "too few accounts recovered from delinquency". I felt this was strange and checked my report and it turns out that there was nothing in it.
I then called CSR and after pressing them with the issue, the guy on the phone told me that I had not been using my card enough. If that is the case, why didn't they just come out and say so. I have since cancelled my card since I do not use it anymore.
The card was ok and like I said, I enjoyed the 5% rewards and that I get free shipping if I order online. But this was not the way to treat a customer.

I got this card 4 years ago and started out with a $300 limit. I usually go to the Target near my place about twice a month so this card comes in really handy. I love using this and getting 5%. Before Christmas season, I knew I would be spending a lot in Target and thought that my $300 limit would not be enough. After doing some googling, I found out that people are saying Target will increase your credit limit if you spend close to your target and either pay it off or carry balance for a couple of months. I tried that during Thanksgiving and sure enough, I soon got a CLI to $700. I have since been repeating this and now have a limit of $4,000.

Like many folks here, I started with a very small limit ($200). I can't really blame target since my scores were only mid to high 600s. But the 5% and free online shipping. Shopping at Target is also a very pleasant experience.
Since the interest is high, I always pay in full and also on time. Over the last 2 years, I have gotten consistent credit line increases. Just recently, I got a letter saying my limit is now $4000 and that I have been upgraded to the Target Mastercard. To be honest, I don't really care cos I have other Visa and Mastercard in my wallet. But it is nice for Target to upgrade me.
My credit score scores have also improved. They are now over 700 (like maybe 760). As long as you are responsible and manage your card properly, you will get credit line increases.

When I applied for this card, my EQ score was 600 while my CreditKarma score was about 640. I was initially approved for a $300 credit limit. The reason I got this card was to rebuild my credit but also because I shop at target. The card has been great so far.
I learned a tip from a friend of mine who also has this card and she told me to simply update my income on the website once every couple of months. I have been doing that every three months and have seen my credit limits increased once every few months. My limit is now $2700 and I have had this card for only about 20 months. That is quite a large credit limit increase considering that I have had it for less than 2 years.

I got this card 2 months after being discharged from chapter 7. My initial credit limit was $300. But Target has been pretty good to me because I noticed that they give me regular credit limit increases. The last one was an increase of $500. My limit is now $1900. My score was probably about 600 when I applied and they definitely pulled EX.
I do shop at Target so I do use the card a lot and so far everything has been good. My credit score has also gradually improved so I am pretty sure having this card has helped.

I got this card to rebuild my credit and also because I shopped at Target. My TU score was about 635 when I was approved and I just had one baddie on my report. The initial limit was $300. I used about $100 out of my $300 limit every month and made sure I PIF every month. After 5 months, I got my first credit limit increase. Then I noticed that it became more consistent and got increases every few months. I got finally upgraded to their MasterCard after 2 years and my limit is now $5500.

I have had this card for about 3 years. And I could not have had a worse experience because of their payment system. First off, their website (especially when you try to sign in) is always down. So finding my due date and how much I owe is always an issue. Calling them is a pain as well (long waits and very often their phone system is down). I then sign up for text and email alerts with regards to payments. But they would arrive after the due date. Sure, I could pay in the store. But then I need to know the amount I owe.
After a few late fees, I have had enough. I called to cancel the card and since then, I have shopped less at Target.

Pros:
5% off
free online shipping
Cons:
I have not got an increase for ages. I was given an initial credit of $500 (which is really pathetic considering my score is in the mid 700s). Got it increased to $700. But the way I shop is that I go to Target once in a while and binge shop. For the credit limit really limits the 5% cash back that I can get.

Score was really bad (like low 500). So I took a chance and applied and got approved for $300 in credit lines. This card works for me since I shop at Target a lot.
I read with envy all you folks who got your lines increased. Hope that happens to me also .

I got a very small limit of $300. Though my score was 635 when I got the card, I had other cards like Cap One which gave me at least $1500 in credit lines. I have not gotten any credit increase since then. All I would say is that it is probably not worth getting this card because even though you can save 5%, the low limits prevent you from saving that much anyway.

My Transunion score was 623 when I got approved and I got a $300 credit limit which seems like normal. Since I shop at Target a lot, I normally end up spending $250 a month (which is not good for my credit utilization). Nevertheless, I pay in full so I can have my full $300 limit for the next month.
After 5 months, I got my limit increased to $700. Now it is $1500, which is way more than enough for me.

I would have given this a 1 star if not for the fact that you can earn 5%. They are so slow to release your credit lines even after you pay them. It has never happened before with other cards. I could not use the card once at Target because of this and I had to forgo the 5%. Customer service was not helpful and all they did was to "restore" my credit line (even though I have paid) and said that this was an exception!

Target actually approved my application after my BK (1 year). So I was really grateful. The initial limit was $250 but who was I to complain. Fast forward 6 years later and my limit is still $250. In the meantime, I have a couple of other store cards and unsecured cards as well. Most of my credit lines are about $2k to $3k.
I do not really shop a lot at Target and I feel like canceling my since the credit limit is so low compared to my other cards. The only thing that is holding me back is the fact that this is the card with the longest credit history since my BK.

Applied for this card 2 years after BK when my score was about 590 (quite close to 600). Credit limit was $200 (which I did not mind). I tend to spend a little on the card (since I go to target at least once or twice a month. I make sure I pay it off in full every month.

Got this card for the 5% back. The credit limit is enough for me but I wished I could get a CLI cos it would be better for my credit utilization ratio (I am in a rebuilding mode).

They have decent deals at the store. I actually do not mind the low credit limit as it prevents me from going overboard. Nevertheless, they still increased my limit twice and now I have a $1,500 limit! Most of the time, I spend about $200 a month at Target so that is plenty for me.

Target pull EQ. $500 CL with a 687 EQ score.
After using the card for nine months, I got a CLI to $1,000. Then six months later, I got another increase to $2,000. To be honest, there were about two occasions where I actually came close to hitting my limit due to a large purchase. For most of the time, my normal usage is low relative to my limit. I do shop at Target but seriously, how much can you really spend there?

I like the 5% earnings. Other than that, I would say that Target does not have a habit of increasing credit lines. Have had a $500 line for years. My other cards give me $10,000! But it does not bother me cos it's not like I spend a gazillion at Target.

Love the 5% savings. I have saved hundreds over the years. But a few things annoy me.
1. credit limit is low even though I set up autopay and have never been late.
2. slow to release credit line after payment.
I will nevertheless keep using the card simply because I shop so much at Target.

I don't really shop a lot at Target. But their cashiers keep pushing this card and I finally got one. Credit limit was ridiculously low. Seems like this is a recurring theme here and elsewhere.
