Like quite a few others, I got a targeted sign up bonus for the Platinum MasterCard version with the intention of canceling it before the one year period. I actually called CSR to cancel it one month before but was told I could simply get the Bronze version with no annual fee. Since I had some miles left in the AA acount, I decided that was the best route. I did not realize they have this version since it is not on the Citi website.

I got this card because it did not have any annual fee. But I later found out that you only earn one mile when you spend two dollars. Not too happy about that but I guess I'm not paying any annual fee.

I got this card originally as a student because it was one of the few student cards available from a big bank. I was then given the regular consumer version years later. I kept this version despite several attempts from CSR to upgrade me to the Plat version. I still have this card because of the history though I do not fly AA at all.

I got this card because I saw it in the mail one day and that was when I did not have any credit cards at all. At my second job, I traveled quite a bit and flew AA sometimes. But not enough to warrant an "upgrade" to one of their annual fee versions (Citi seems to have quite a few of them). I still have the card and use it once every now and then to simply maintain my AA account, which is mostly inactive except for the card spend.

I originally had the Citi AA Amex. There was some sign up bonus. After the first year annual fee came in the mail, I called CSR to cancel and was persuaded to be downgraded to the Bronze version (this one) which had no annual fee. But I still got my $95 annual fee bill and decided to pay up rather than risk any credit damage. This version is not as good as the regular versions because you cannot earn a lot of miles. But that is the price for having a FF card that has no fee.

I got this card to avoid paying the annual fee. But was not too happy with the earnings (1 mile for $2). So I upgraded to the Platinum version. Call CSR and got it done over the phone. I thought I should have had a higher limit because of my score. On some of my other Visa cards, I was getting over $10k in CL.

I was one of those who have churned Citi AA cards. But I have stopped that sort of stuff cos of general miles devaluation. On one of the cards, I simply downgraded to the Bronze. Like one other poster said, using the card occasionally keeps your miles. CSR has been on and off, sometimes good, sometimes bad.

The good thing about this card is that there is no annual fee. The bad thing is you only earn one mile for every two dollars you spend on AA tickets. You also do not get the perks like reduced miles award and anniversary bonus with the higher tier cards. Citi's CSR are decent.

Got this card without realizing that it took so long to earn enough miles for a ticket. Decided to switch to the Starwood Card after 2 years as you can also transfer Starpoints to AA miles. I I got a larger CL for the SPG than AA!

I originally got the Platinum version due to a sign up bonus. I think it was about 50k. Anyway, just before the year was up (and hence the annual fee), I called Citi to cancel the card. However, I was persuaded to "downgrade" to this bronze version, which has no annual fee. But the downside is that you can only earn 1 miles per $2 rather than 2 miles per $1 on AA flights. But I got my 50k miles, so no complaints. The CL I got was for the original Platinum version and it was transferred to the Bronze.

I've really not come across a FF card with no fees. But this card works out well for me because I could keep my AA account active. I now use the Starwood card and occasionally transfer points to AA.
