Thought I'd chime in here. I applied when my score was about 740 and got approved for $3000 CL. Reading what others have said, I think just based on my score alone, I should have gotten a higher limit. But I think my student loans and the fact that I have opened 3 cards in the last 9 months counted against me. Hope this helps anyone that is applying.

I have been late a couple of times (happened before I set up autopay) and Chase always waived the late fees. ( also pay in full so I guess I did not pay any attention as to whether they raised my rates or not (probably not is my guess). If you pay in full, this card is simply great for it's rewards.

Used to fly United and have their card. But now that they are moving their program to one based on ticket prices rather than distant flown to earn miles, it is time to me to stop using the UA card. Hence, I got this card. Earning cash back is much better.

Approval was relatively easy and quick for me. I got the "you are approved" screen after I pressed the submit button on the online application page. Before this, I only had 2 cards. One was the old Amex blue cash and the other was a Wells Fargo card since I have a checking account with them. I cannot comment on their CSR since I have never called them before. But I am happy with this card so far. I find myself mainly using this and the old blue cash to earn cash back.

After getting the card, I forgot to sign up for the quarterly bonus. They actually do send you reminders but I just did not remember. Anyway, I called CS and they back dated everything to make sure I got my bonus. I am happy with it but having said all that, the idea of having to sign up every quarter is too much for me. I am going to get a cash back card that does not require quarterly sign ups.

I regret not getting a regular credit card when I was a student to build my credit. After college, my first card was the Capital One secured version. Very soon, I got preapproved for a BOA Visa because I bank with them. I then decided to get this because I was attracted by the rewards. Applied online and was approved immediately with a $2.5k CL with a score in the high 600s and perhaps just at 700 depending on which score it was.

I am a long time holder of the UA Visa from Chase. Am also a long time frequent flyer of United because of work. Since I took a mini retirement, I decided to stop earning UA miles since using miles in general has become a real pain. After much research, I thought that the Freedom offered the best in terms of rewards and cash back. I got a $15k CL with an 800 score (through a very long history of always paying in full and never being late). Love this card and when I think of all the annual fees I have paid over the years on the UA card, I wonder if it was ever worth it!

Having used a plain old BOA Visa Platinum for many years, I decided to get a card that gave me rewards. After reading some of the reviews here and on other sites, I decided on this card. I have had many years of history (though with only one card) and I got a decent line. I have been happy with the rewards so far and I find myself earning between $30 and $45 in cash back each month.

I have read mix reviews on application success when your credit is not great (ie more than 700). So I thought I'd share this. Got foreclosed in 2008. Record should be wiped out soon. Have 3 other cards which I always paid in full. Total CL from other cards is about $10k. Applied for this card and got approved with $2.5k CL. I guess it is not too bad considering what is on my report.

Have an Amex and finally decided to diversify and get a Visa. Ended up choosing this one after much research. I have no regrets about it. While some people complain about it, I actually quite like the quarterly 5% rewards. Amex does not have it. So this card is great when a store tells me that Amex is not accepted and also when I can use the 5% rewards for the item I am buying. The CL that I got was ok 9$8.5k). But I honestly thought that with my score, I should get a higher limit?

Before getting this card, I had a Capital One, BOA Visa and and a Wells Fargo cash back card. I have to say that this card is the best that I have had hands down. The 5% rotating rewards are great. I especially like the gas, home improvements and amazon.com rewards. CSR has been very good. Lost my card once and also asked them about renting a car and what the card insurance policy covered. Both times, they helped me out quickly.

I use this card along with my Amex Blue Cash Everyday. The Amex is for groceries, department stores and gasoline (although I switch to the Chase when they have their 5% for gas). I find that using this combination of cards serves me well and I feel I get the best from both these cards. My CL with Chase is $7.5k and $12k for the Amex. So between the two cards, I have more than enough CL for my daily use.

Applied and was denied due to "insufficient history". After moving cities due to new job, I opened a Chase account. After about seven months with Chase Bank, my banker told me to consider getting their cards and he said that based on my account, I could probably be approved. So I applied and was approved though nothing has really changed as far as my credit score goes. It looks like having a banking relationship with Chase does help.

I applied for this when I had only about 9 months of credit history. I was denied. So I called the backdoor number for reconsideration and was told that I needed at least one year on credit history. But I decided to call them again a week later. The CSR told me the same story but said he would try to see if he could do anything. He asked me to verify my income and must have put me on hold for at least 10 minutes. When he came back on the line, he told me that I was approved for $500. The CL is small but I am very happy I got this card as the rewards look very good.

But these days, my job does not require traveling and I no longer want to earn points for miles transfer because it is getting more and more difficult to do so. I started off getting the Slate for the balance transfer deal and got a rather smallish limit (about $2k). After a couple of years and an improving credit score, I thought I'd upgrade to a rewards card. After reading stuff here and at other forums, I decided to keep the Slate and get another card from Chase. I chose the Freedom and got approved instantly. CL was ok at $9k. Having this card sure beats the Slate as I get to earn points which I did not with the previous card. My advice is that if you are looking for just one go to card to use, this is a great card with no annual fee and very nice rewards. The 5% rewards really help you earn more cash back than you would otherwise.

I have 4 other cards before I applied for this. Got the BOA cash rewards with a $6k CL, Discover with a $8k CL, JC Penny with a $2k and Macys with $3k. I though the CL given to me was on the low side considering my utilization is about 15%. And I am never late. Having said all that, the rewards are great (especially the 5% bonus). I seldom call their customer service line so I cannot comment too much on that aspect. I think I will be using this card almost exclusively since I will earn more rewards with this alone than all my other cards.

I am very happy with this card. The 5% rewards work out great for me. Mostly, it is gas, restaurants and the amazon.com shopping. They do change every 3 months though. I got a decent limit which I only use half and I do pay in full every month so the 18% (or so) APR does not bother me at all. The only time I used customer service was to inform them of an overseas trip and also to ask questions on the car insurance and I was happy both times as they appeared polite and was able to answer my questions. The only things I wish was that Chase would automatically enroll you in the 5% rewards (you actually have to enroll quarterly).

I use all three but I think I love the Freedom the most. The reason is that it is not just a cash back card and you can redeem it for other things like gift card whereas the other two that I have are more pure cash rewards (if you know what I mean). These days, I use it the most among the three cards that I have, especially during the Holiday season when they have 5% rewards on things like shopping at Amazon.com and other department stores.

What I really like about the card is the 5% rewards on gas, restaurants and amazon.com. During the spring, I did some work in the garden. I got my supplies at the Home Depot and used the card since "home improvement stores" was the the 5% bucket. If you intend to get this card, try to apply for it when there is a sign up bonus.

Many years ago, I had the old Chase Visa Platinum. When they retired the card, my card was changed to the Freedom and it was actually a great thing. The old card had no rewards whereas this one is full of it. I do like the 5% rewards. The amazon.com is really great during the holiday season. I also used the travel rewards once during the summer and the 5% gas is also great. Everything else is 1%. Every month, I earn about $40 to $60 in cash back just from using the card on things that I would spend on anyway. I pay my bills in full and never have had any problems with Chase. I would recommend this card any time.

I applied for this card along with the Discover. I got a CL of $3k for this and $5k for the Discover. Why the difference? I do not know. What I like about both is the 5% quarterly rewards. Both they both have it, the categories tend to be different. Hence, I find that I am able to earn more cash back by having both these cards. One of the items I really like is the 5% gas rewards. Both cards have it and sometimes, they have it during different quarters. That means that I get 5% cash back on gas for six months rather than just three months. I also like the rewards during the fourth quarter. Chase gives you 5% rewards if you shop at amazon and some other places as well. Discover has something similar for online shopping. If you have both cards, you can really earn a lot of cash back.

I got this card and had a $6k CL. I also had an old WAMU card (which was bought by Chase) and had a $7k CL. So in total, I had a total of $13k CL with Chase. I have other cards as well and for years, I have been paying my bills on time every month. I have never been late. For both those Chase cards, I had about $5k in balance between the two cards. One day, due to some extra funds that appeared, I decided to pay off my balances (I do not carry a balance with my other cards). After I paid off the balance, Chase cut my lines to just a few hundred dollars. To say that I was pissed was a massive understatement. I called the CSR and asked for an explanation but all I got was that my utilization ratio was high. This was ridiculous because I carried no balance with my other cards and I just paid off my Chase cards (and they cut the lines). Even the supervisor could not help. At the end, they were blunt and said I was high risk and they could not do anything! So needless to say, I cancelled both these cards and simply used my other cards. My advice to all: DO NOT GET ANY CHASE CARDS!!

I got this card because I wanted a Visa in addition to the Amex Blue Cash that I have. After using both cards, I have come to rely on my Blue Cash more. But, to be clear, my Blue Cash is the old one where you get 5% on gas, groceries and drugstore after you spend $6.5k from your anniversary date. The thing that I like about the Freedom is that during the 4th quarter, the 5% category gets interesting. Very often, you can get 5% at amazon.com, Best Buy and other department stores and for online shopping as well. It saves you quite a bit during Christmas shopping though you are capped at $1.5k for the 5% spending. Overall, I still prefer my Blue Cash though this is a handy Visa card to have.

I had previously gotten the Chase Slate when they had a great 0% BT deal. Having paid off the balance and being free of any credit debt now (I pay in full and it feels great), I was looking for a rewards card. I decided on the Freedom as I was quite happy with the Slate. My CL was about $2000 on the Slate so this gives me an additional $3k on my total lines with Chase.

Got mid 600s scores on all 3 bureaus and was approved for $1,200 CL. Love the 5% categories. Earns me decent cash back every month.

I did not really have any credit history. TU was 663, EQ was 645 and Exp was about 657. Got a small $500 CL and I am very happy with it because I did not think Chase might approve a card for someone like me with really no history.

I've been a frequent flyer for as long as I can remember. I got this card to complement my Sapphire Preferred after switching out of Amex. To be honest, I expected a higher CL considering the age of my history and the fact that I PIF. The rewards account is combined with my Sapphire Preferred and I earn more points this way (using 2 chase cards and combining the rewards account). Points area mainly transferred to UA and SouthWest.

For me, this is a great card for everyday use. I was really attracted to the 5% categories. I spend about $2000 a month on the card and PIF. The CL I got is enough for me.

I got this card after my second attempt at applying. The first attempt was 2 years ago when I was in the midst of recovering my credit after a couple of late payments and other stuff. Once it was cleaned up, I got approved for a Cap One card with annual fee. Used it and always PIF. I am pretty happy with the CL I got and since my CL with CapOne is very low, I cancelled that card.

Despite my small CL, I still love using this card for the 5% rewards. I have earned 5% from Lowes in the spring and 5% at amazon in the winter category and 5% on gas whenever they have that. But I always PIF since my APR is 19.99%!

I have just graduated and earning about 30k a year. I got a Discover student card in my junior year (which means my credit history is about 2 years or so). Got approved for $1,500 in CL with a 18.99% APR. I intend to PIF every month and gradually build up my credit history.

I was applied this card 5 years after my BK discharge (which was still on the files). I was declined but I decided to call the recon backdoor line. I was questioned on my present income and how I intended to pay the card off. I told the CSR that I intended to pay in full. I was put on hold for a while but then approved with a $1,200 CL. My score then was barely at 600. The rate was 22.99% so I am definitely paying in full every month.

Got a mail offer with a $200 sign up bonus. Got approved with a $2,500 CL. The interest rate was too high for my liking but I pay in full anyway so it does not bother me.

I have about 5 years of credit history with a Cap One Student card. Applied and got approved instantly with a $3000 CL. My scores with all 3 bureaus are in the low 700s.

I guess due to my short credit history, I was only initially approved for $500. I called CSR and asked for the reason of my low lines. After answering a couple of questions on income etc, I was told they would have to do a hard pull on my credit again. But the good news was that the CL was increased to $5000. So no complaints here.

I contemplated between this and the discover card. Part of what attracted me to the card was the 5% I would get during the holiday season for online shopping. My intention is to also get the Sapphire Preferred in the future and combine my rewards into one account. I am happy with the card but thought that I should have gotten a higher CL.

I really did not have any credit history. Applied online for the card and was approved for $1000 in CL. Given how many here and other forums have said approval for those with 1 or 2 year history was really difficult, this really came as a pleasant surprise. I hope to get CL increases in 6 months to 1 year.

I got this card to use as my primary card after ditching my Delta Amex. I have decided to stop earning miles and just earn cash back. I guess I will save on those annual fees too. Given my score and years of credit history (not a late payment), I thought I should have gotten a higher limit than $4k. Still it is enough of a CL for me.

Applied for this card and got approved with a 20.99% interest rate and a $2,500 CL. Score was in the mid 600s I think. It has been 2 years and what I have been doing is charge about $500 a month on the card and PIF. My scores are now in the low 700s for all 3 bureaus and I will be calling Chase soon to ask for an increase in CL.

I was initially denied but called the reconsideration line and was given a small credit line of $1,000. I guess it could have been worse (like a $500 CL). Anyway, I am pretty pleased and will be using this card as a means to improve my score going forward. Once my score reaches over the 700 level, I'll apply for other other reward cards.

Prior to this, my main card was the Amex Blue Cash Everyday. After reading some advice from this site, I decided to add a rotating category card to use with the Amex. I chose this over Discover. Given my score, I got a very good credit line and am happy with it. I think the APR was not the lowest (probably mid teens). But since I PIF, I do not really care about it.

Before this card, I got the Chase Sapphire (not the preferred version but the regular one). What I liked about that was I could earn double points on dining. Then after some research, I realized that I could get the Chase Freedom and use it for other things that earned more than 1% rewards. In that sense, the 5% categories are simply great. I was also able to combine the rewards account into one so using the Freedom and the Sapphire is actually a fantastic combo.

Had about 5 years of history. Applied online and got approve immediately. But my line was only $500. So I called CS, who put me on hold for a couple of minutes. I think I got another hard pull, but got an increase of $4k.

Decided to get this card when they had a 0% 12 month offer. Got approved immediately with a $10k limit. Love this card. The 5% category makes so much sense and I find myself using it every quarter. I pay in full every month ever since I paid off the balance transfer.

I got this card and was told I had to wait 7 to 10 business days. I finally got it in the mail. As a background, my score was about 715, about 3 other cards and a student loan. Have never been late on any payment. Hope this info helps those who are in a similar situation.

I was relatively "new to credit". Prior to getting approved for this card, I got a couple of secured cards. The first was from my bank BOA. The second was from Orchard Bank. I decided to get this card as my true first unsecured card. I got the initial message that "I will receive a decision in 7 to 10 business days". So I called the recon number at 1-888-245-0625 and was put through CS rep who told me that I was denied and reason was my relatively new history. But after looking at my files again, I was approved for $500. Though it is a small amount, it is a big deal to me as this is my first "real card".
