Opened it online during check out and yet no card number was available to complete order. Service Center was closed till next day 9AM. By the time finally got someone to help, said agent can help me place the order. It took forever for them to read each every items and all security verifications. Then, IT GOT DECLINED and got sent back to card service and back. By this time, a few items I want are gone even before he started reading each item, so I just ordered it with my other credit cards and close the account. Horrible card.

They keep e mailing me the same bills i already paid several days ago. They took the money out of my bank acct, yet keep sending the same bills. Get it straight Macys.

The payment options are ridiculous. I preferred not to add my banking info (routing & acc#) online, so I called to ask for other options. Basically, that's the only one. They may let you use your debit card over the phone, but the problem I noticed is that every time a new representative answers, you have to provide them with the last for digits of your ss# and other information. I don't really feel comfortable giving my debit card number together with all they request JUST TO PAY for the Macys card. I would like to go directly to a store to pay for it, but the closest is almost 3 hours away. Regreting getting this bs card.

the web payment service NEVER works. and after making a telephone payment, that was never reported or applied to my account, TWICE within the last 6 months. I am done making transactions through customer service. I will only make payments at the store. What an inconvenience and nusance!!!!

MACY POLICY STINKS. I MADE a purchase of a bed. Ir WAS a closeout.I was not never told that I couldn't cancel my order. I have not picked it up.their store policy is no return or refund. I have shop at macy for years.never had this problem

The cashier was not explaining what I was signing up for properly. When I found this card came with charges even though I purchased the items with my own money, I called and talked to someone about cancelling the card and dropping the charges. They agreed but now I have a higher bill this month even though I cancelled two months ago.
This is highly unethical and they lost another customer.

I opened a Macy's card a few years ago when I was buying luggage. My credit limit was decreased to $100 when I moved to a new address which pretty much made the card unusable I decided to cancel a year later. When I cancelled the card the representative failed to tell me there was a $1 charge left on the account. 6 months later I received a call saying I now owed $11 in interest charges. The representative wouldn't drop the charges and told me it was negligent of me to not log on and check my monthly statement for my cancelled card. I finally paid the $11 out of frustration. A month later I got an email saying I owed an additional $4. I was able to get this charge dropped. I'm now wondering how many more months I will have to call and get charges dropped from my cancelled credit card. I wish I had never opened this card! Not worth the savings.

Five years ago as I was going through a family tragedy I sent in my Macy's payment in without looking at the bill. I sent the same amount every month and didn't notice that the amount due was a couple dollars more than usual. So Macy's considered my payment a no payment. The next month I sent all that was due and was up to date with payments. After 5 years this month Macy's still refuse to remove the negative mark from may credit report even though they can. I have made every payment before and after that mistake but being a good customer doesn't matter to Macy's

Macy American express card do not get one.I've enjoyed shopping at lazurus better than Macy's but never again.Customer service on phone is not anymore the auto system is not good.One day late fee $27.00 no grace period.Iam finished with Macy's and see them going out.

I echo all the negative reviews below. Quite aside from my specific issue: They say they have 24-hour a day customer service, but all I can get is recorded options none of which applies to my problem. They give a customer service website that is equally irrelevant to the question I am trying to resolve. I am going to return my most recent bill with CANCEL MY ACCOUNT written all over it. What a joke.

This company deserves to go out of business, their customer service is terrible and impossible to deal with. We got behind on payments and entered into a repayment agreement in which they would make automatic deductions from out checking account to resolve the payment problem. we we got down to the last payment they terminated the agreement and sent a bill for the balance, which we paid to them prior to the due date on the billing. A week later we get a letter from Macy's stating that we had failed to live up to the conditions of the repayment plan and that they had terminated the agreement. They also advised that they were reporting the termination negatively on the credit report. We called the customer dis-service department and got transferred 5 times and after an hour and a half was not able to resolve the problem.
Avoid this company like the plague, do not purchase anything from them. They deserve to go out of business.

Absolutely horrible! I signed up for the card because they were offering 35% off the transaction. What a bad idea. They dinged my credit report after I didn't pay my fees (didn't even know what that was beyond a monthly charge). Tried to cancel the card several times but the 'fees' continued. Adding injury to insult they then lowered my credit limit to $100. What a joke. I'm a millionaire and will never shop at Macys again!

If I could give 0 stars, I would.
Horrible customer service. I called regarding my Macy's credit card, the lady on the phone was extremely rude, kept interrupting me the entire time, and was very disrespectful. The customer service was worse than what you get in a third world country. Extremely rude and unfriendly. I really hope Macy's records those calls for quality assurance. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars shopping at Macy's, and I can't believe this is how they treated me.

I will never set foot in Macy's again! Never sign up for a card ever! And tell everyone you know!! After hours & hours on phone trying to understand bill, get assistance online and on phone with statements is not customer service. Macy's has not sent a statement and charged months and months of interest & late fees. They have called but not left a message saying what the call is about. Do not trust Macy's, they must be desparate to be stay in business to rip people off.

If I could give zero stars, I would. When your account is screwed up due to errors in their collection department, prepare to be harassed. Mind you there are no actual people in "customer service" just endless voicemail. When you finally realize that to get service you have to call in as if you are planning to make a purchase, you will wait more than an hour, be placed on hold multiple times, then be disconnected. Horrific.

They returned my on-time payment and then reported me delinquent to credit bureaus without notifying me. They screwed up but it became my nightmare to fix. April 2015 I have a credit balance $34, I did not receive a statement for May because "I didn't owe any money"; and then June 2015 I have a bill of $16 plus $18 in late fees. I had not used credit card since April and had not received any notice of any problems. I found out by accident when I went online and saw Macy's had reported me to the credit card bureaus as delinquent!? WTF? This was followed by nightmare press 1, press 2, that's not an option, etc. finally reaching a rep who barely speaks English, whereby I'm put on hold for close to 45 minutes--had to do this two months in a row. Finally they agreed they screwed up and removed the negative report, but two months later I receive a bill of $2--a penalty fee to me because they had to fix my credit report! I hate this credit card and Macy's. I called to dispute this charge and got a message saying there would be a 50 minute wait!!!!DO NOT sign up for this card, you WILL regret it. Worst customer support and even worse software/accounting department. A complete and utter amateur hour except they are dangerous to your credit history and they don't care.

Don't do it! Even if you pay off your Macys account monthly, as soon as your account is paid in full, they will charge you a $2 fee the next month! This is standard policy- and after 3 calls to have the fee removed, it's still there. They refuse to give pay off balances on their account so they can charge you this fee, and I think they really plan on you not noticing so they can charge you a $35! fee for a late/missed payment. Not worth the risk to your credit, or the headaches.

Run and don't look back. The outrageous 24.5% interest rate is astronomical and Macy's American Express credit card is outright robbing their own customers. This is no benefit; it is highway robbery. Instead of being robbed, DO NOT use your credit card, use another credit card with lower interest rates or shop somewhere else. I always thought Macy's was a fair company, but when I saw my statement and the 24.5% interest rate I realized they were out to rip off their customers.

It's the bill pay system that needs adjusting.
I find myself going back 2 to 3 times per month to make sure the payment I thought I made did indeed register. I pay all bills online and have for many years without a hitch. Macy's is the worst.

The color of my card is the Black one. The thing that I really like is the 15% to 20% discount that I get for using the card. I've got a Macys in the Mall closest to my place. I make it a point to pay my bills in full every month.

Well, it's nice to get discounts when you shop at Macy's. But as far as customer service goes this has got to be one of the worst cards around. I was late for one payment by a day or two, and I must have received 3 to 4 calls a day. And this is for a customer who has always paid in full. What a joke this is. I've stopped using the card since (it's in the drawer).

Can I give zero star rating for this card? They closed by account because I did not use it enough!!!! WTF!!!! Stay clear of this card and do not fall into the temptation when the cashier tries to spin a fast one on you.

Their computer systems must be from the dinosaur age. It's so difficult to pay online. Even when I thought the bills were paid, I get a late payment. Run from this card. RUN RUN RUN.

I think I found out that Macys has a closing date and due date. If you pay too early, they might (will) apply it to the previous month and you could be "technically late for the present month". So you have to pay before the due date but after closing date so as not to be late!!! The best thing to do is to always pay in full. Or simply forge about this card and avoid all the hassles (which appears to be the common theme here).

What is wrong with their system? Set up auto payments. Then for some reason, it does not work. Then it becomes a late payment and I get no notice that the auto payment is not working. Before you know it, the late payment was reported to the credit bureaus. With my previous BOA account, the reps managed to undo the credit bureau reporting because it was an error on their part. But no luck with Macys.

I had the same problem as Trish. If you use internet banking, email statements or autopay features for your other cards, then give this a skip. Same problem happened. Thought I'd paid everything (on autopay). Turns out "things were not working" so there was a late fee and a penalty fee. But the worse thing is there is no notification letter or email. And my score got dinged after it was reported to credit bureaus!

Have no real complaints about this card. Love the discounts (who doesn't?). Have read many complaints about the payments and systems. But I've always paid in full and use snail mail. So far, that has not been an issue at all. But I love shopping at Macys (like the return policy), so this card works for me. Perhaps I would have had a different experience if I used the internet for the payments. But so far, the old fashion way has worked well.

The thing I really like about the card is that you can pay your purchase immediately at the store. So I use the 15% discount and pay it off. This way, I'm never late.
