Executive Summary -
Most great balance transfer deals come from cards with no rewards. There are some exceptions though and this card is one of them. In our opinion, this is already one of the best cash back cards to get. To include a generous BT deal is simply a bonus.
As we have mentioned in our introduction, it is rare of have a great rewards card with a good 0% teaser offer. And it is actually qutie a surprise coming from Discover as they are a prime issuer. So here is what this card has to offer to incentivize sign ups.
Balance Transfer : 0% for 18 Months*. The balance transfer fee is 3%.
This is the longest introductory period in the market at the moment along with some other cards from Citi.
Purchases : 0% for 6 Months*
Unlike other cards that simply have a 0% purchases introductory offer, Discover offers an additional advantage because they have an online shopping mall called shopdiscover.com which has over 200 over online merchant partners. So for example, Apple.com is a merchant partner. If you get this card and you buy an iMac with this card (through the Discover Portal), you will get 5% cash back (and if you use a student ID, you get more discounts). And you receive what is effectively a 0% financing for 6 months as well.
