Executive Summary -
A truly unique and great travel rewards credit card that has found it's way into more than a few wallets. A popular card among frequent fliers as well as moderate flyers. In our final part of our review, we give our thoughts and recommendations.
As we come to the final part of the review, I'll start off by saying that this is one of the most unique travel rewards card and I'm surprised that it has not been really copied by it's competitors. Many folks who have gotten this card really like the annual free companion ticket feature. And on top of it, an authorized user also gets a free companion ticket! The savings alone from this feature will more than cover the $95 annual fee if you use it.
Many folks who get this card also make use of the 15% discount with Spirit Incentives. This feature will be great if you are not really fussy about things like your flight time etc. That is because what you will get is simply the lowest fare available for the route and very often, that involves taking red eye flights or very early morning flights.
The best of it all is that even as you get a free companion ticket or the 15% discount, you will earn TY points, your frequent flier miles as well as TY Flight points (which can really add up).
If you decided to make use of points you have earned to get a free airline ticket, the value of your points you get will be more (32%) than what other programs offer. You simply get more bang for the buck when you redeem TY points for travel.
Another nice feature of the card is that fact that there is no foreign transaction fee. And this makes it a great card for international travel.
The only thing that some folks may not like is that to use the TY flight points that you have earned, you need to earn a similar amount of points before the TY flight points gets "released". While this may seem as a restriction, I can understand where Citi is coming from. If they do not impose something like that, then everyone will simply use this card for travel and nothing else!
For those who wish to use the card long term, Citi also rewards you by giving you bonus TY points based on a percentage of the points you have earned.
Verdict - I would sum up this review by saying that this is one of the most unique travel rewards card in the market. It is great for those who travel a lot and to be honest, even for those who travel moderately. The perks that you get are more than enough to offset the annual fee (which is waived for the first year). Many folks also combine this card with other frequent flier and travel credit cards.
So if you travel a lot, you might just want to add this card in your arsenal.
Limited Time Offer - Right now, new card members will be able to earn double points for every dollar spent for 24 months (ie 2 year). Though there is no sign up bonus with this offer, those who intend to consolidate spending on just one card might want to consider this card now.
