Executive Summary -
One of the surprises of this new revamped card is that they offer trip cancellation and trip delay insurance, which is outside the scope of what a typical Visa Signature card offers. In this part of our review, we highlight these and other travel related features which you would want to know.
Since this is a Visa Signature card, it becomes with standard travel perks that come with very Signature cards issued by Visa.
- Travel Accident Insurance - This perks is a common carrier insurance which means that if you book your tickets (airline, cruise etc) with this card, you will be covered for accidental death or injuries to and from the trip to your port of departure. Minimum coverage starts at $250,000.
- Lost Luggage Insurance - You also have lost baggage insurance. The coverage is for up to $3,000 dollars.
- Emergency Travel and Medical Services - If you get into any trouble when you are traveling (especially when you are abroad), this feature will come in handy. All you have to do is to call Visa. They can provide you with medical assistance, legal referrals, translation services etc. The service is free, though you have to pay for the actual service if you decide to use them.
-
Car Rental Insurance - This perks applies to both domestic and international rentals. For domestic rentals, the collision and theft insurance kicks in when you pay for your car rental with the card (and you obviously have to decline the coverage offered by the rental company). The coverage is secondary (after your primary auto insurance) and will most likely cover things like deductibles and other areas which your primary auto coverage is unable to cover.
For international rentals, the coverage is primary if your auto insurance does not cover overseas driving. Countries like Israel, Ireland and Jamaica are not covered.
