I Am Considering Turning Off My RSS Feeds

Due to the amount of sites scraping content off my RSS feeds even though they are not “full feeds” (and the fact that some of their results are appear in the search engines at my expense), I am seriously considering turning off my RSS feed for the blog.

Having said that, I do understand that there are some of you who have me on your Yahoo or Google reader and come to my site from there. Hence, I would like to get feedback from those who use RSS readers about your thoughts on this matter.

Should I pull off the feeds? Will you still read this blog if it were not on your RSS reader?

Please share your thoughts in the comment section below. If there are very few comments, I would take it that very few of you care and I’ll shut it off.

Thanks once again.

I love your site but probably won’t read it if I don’t see a headline on MyYahoo page. I click through and read teh articles all the time so I’d really miss it.

Same here. I probably wouldn’t read your site if I don’t see it in my Google Reader. It’s too much trouble to go specifically to your site to check out if there are any articles that interest me. Sorry. Hope you don’t turn it off.

Ditto, probably wouldn’t read if it didn’t pop up on my Google Reader.

Ditto, I would probably forget to visit the site, but I click thru all the time.

Yep, same as above. I am a lurker, but come in via google reader. Love the blog, but I have so little time to surf these days it is completely from sites listed in my iGoogle page.

I depend on the feed to alert me to possible interesting posts. I would prefer that you include a little more of the post in the feed, as there is sometimes too little to let me know if the post will be of interest to me…

Biggles – part of the reason I had to make it a partial post was otherwise, my content would be fully scraped. At least now, they can just scrap the title, but often, they will show up in google above me!

Hey Mr. CC, I’ll always be a fan of your site but I’m not gonna lie: turning off RSS feeds will definitely be a hindrance. I probably would visit every so often but I’m almost exclusively dependent on my google reader for my blog reading–and that includes every blog I follow, not just yours. I find it hard to believe there’s not a single tech solution to this. Come forth techies!

I’m more old school, I have a link to your blog that I click every couple of days.

  10. Susan Says:

I like your site, but if something isn’t on my RSS feed, I don’t see it. :( Sorry.

Ditto as the above. I access you from Google Reader. I go down my list reading from the different sites. You’re one of the best, but a no-go if your not there.

  12. HARRIS Says:

Ditto the above. If it is not on the RSS, I will not see/read it. I go to your site via the RSS feed to make life simple for me. If the RSS is gone, I probably will be too.
