Miles Formula - The Jet Blue frequent flyer program miles is a little different from other programs. Here is how this works with the Jet Blue Card. For every dollar you spend on the American Express Jet Blue, you earn one Award Dollars. 200 Award dollars equals to 1 TrueBlue point. You need 100 TrueBlue points to get one award flight. This means you need to accumulate 20,000 Award Dollars to get a free flight. Once you have accumulated one TrueBlue point, it will get transferred to your TrueBlue account. Once it is transferred, TrueBlue points are valid for one year.
The Jet Blue Card from American Express allows you to earn double Award Dollars on Jet Blue ticket purchase. The Jet Blue credit card uses the average daily balance method (including new purchase) to calculate monthly balances.
Conclusions - The Jet Blue Card from American Express is a very good airline credit card as it has a very reasonable annual fee, allows you to earn "double miles" not just from JetBlue ticket purchases, but also from other types of outlets. You can also earn unlimited miles. The only thing you have to careful of is that once you have earned 1 TrueBlue point (200 Award Dollars), it gets transferred automatically to your TrueBlue account. TrueBlue points, unlike most other airmiles from other carriers, are only valid for one year. Hence, you either need to be a frequent JetBlue traveller and spend enough a year to get a free ticket to get the best use of this card. Otherwise, your miles will simply expire before you can use them.
