Reward Formula - The Citi® Gold / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® allows the cardholder to earn one AAdvantage® mile for every dollar you spend on purchases on the card. As a sign-in bonus, new cardholders get 15,000 miles after $750 of spending during the first 4 months. You can earn up to 60,000 miles in one calendar year, but Executive Platinum, Platinum and Gold members can earn unlimited miles. Gold cardholders also get 5,000 reduced mileage award once a year whereby you can redeem an award with 5,000 less points.
Annual Fee and APR - The first year annual fee is waived. Thereafter, the annual fee becomes $50.00. The apr is at prime rate plus 9.99%, which appears to be the standard rate for all airline credit cards. Citibank uses the average daily balance method to calculate monthly balances.
Verdict - The Citi® Gold / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® is a step up from the bronze version, which though has no annual fee, requires you to spend two dollars on the card to earn one point. The Gold version is like any other regular airline card where you earn one mile for every dollar you spend. However, the annual fee (first year waived) is very reasonable at $50.00 compared to other card that charge up to $85.00. I would recommend the Citi® Gold/AAdvantage® World MasterCard® to the AAdvantage® member.
