We&#8217;ve had the same budget for the last four years, and it&#8217;s working well for us. <\/p>\n<p>We know how much we need to save before Christmas, and we don&#8217;t end up in debt after Christmas &#8211; even though we have a large number of family members that we have to  for. So, the economy can do what it will, but we are sticking to our plan.<\/p>\n<p>How about you guys? Has the economy had an impact on your Christmas spending? Are you putting more or less on credit than usual? Tell me about it in the comments section &#8211; I&#8217;d love to know!<\/p>\n<p>The articles below were my very favorite articles of the week. They all made me smile, or made me think, so I saved them to share with you. It&#8217;s a short little video of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cleverdude.com\/content\/the-cartoon-network-float-controversy\/\">Cartoon Network float<\/a>. If you haven&#8217;t seen it, definitely check it out!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Frugal Dad<\/strong> showcases the <a href=\"http:\/\/frugaldad.com\/2008\/12\/03\/the-one-dollar-give-project\/\">One Dollar Give Project<\/a> &#8211; I definitely support this one. A dollar really does make a difference when enough people give.<\/li>\n<li><strong>My Two Dollars<\/strong> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mytwodollars.com\/2008\/12\/05\/day-5-the-m-networks-12-days-of-christmas\/\">5 Golden Rules To Follow During The Holiday Season.<\/a> Personal homemade gifts, and rethinking the amount of stuff you  your children. There is some very down-to-earth advice here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><font size=\"3\" color=\"blue\">Keeping it Real:<\/font><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Donna at the <strong>Smart Spending Blog<\/strong> turned 51, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.moneycentral.msn.com\/smartspending\/archive\/2008\/12\/05\/surviving-and-thriving-in-my-sixth-decade.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage\">wrote a beautiful article<\/a> about age, maturity and life. Happy Birthday Donna!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Money Crashers<\/strong> talks about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moneycrashers.com\/how-to-protect-you-and-your-family-from-financial-ruin-in-a-recession\/\">Protecting You and Your Family From Financial Ruin In A Recession<\/a>. Having enough insurance, and working to eliminate your debt are discussed. Excellent article.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prime Time Money<\/strong> discusses <a href=\"http:\/\/ptmoney.com\/2008\/12\/05\/collecting-aluminum-cans-for-cash\/\">Collecting Aluminum Cans for Cash<\/a>. It&#8217;s good for the environment, and your wallet. What could be greener than that?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get Rich Slowl<\/strong>y gives us <a href=\"http:\/\/www.getrichslowly.org\/blog\/2008\/12\/04\/10-essential-steps-to-take-before-youre-laid-off\/\">10 Essential Steps to Take Before You\u2019re Laid Off<\/a>. Yep. No one likes to think of that as a possibility, but it&#8217;s always better to be prepared.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No Credit Needed<\/strong> really put some thought into his article: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncnblog.com\/2008\/12\/04\/10-steps-to-escaping-the-paycheck-to-paycheck-cycle\/\">10 Steps To Escaping The Paycheck To Paycheck Cycle<\/a>. I love this blog. If you&#8217;ve never been there, definitely check it out!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Taking Charge<\/strong> talks about <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.creditcards.com\/2008\/12\/paypal-digitizes-allowances.php\">digitizing your child&#8217;s allowance with Paypal<\/a>. Wow! What a thought!<\/li>\n<li><strong>SquawkFox<\/strong> wonders: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.squawkfox.com\/2008\/12\/03\/squawkback-are-you-being-overcharged-at-the-grocery-register\/\">Are you being overcharged at the grocery register?<\/a>&#8220;. I know that I am frequently overcharged. Especially if an item is on sale and it won&#8217;t ring up that way.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Blunt Money<\/strong> gives several great tips on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluntmoney.com\/how-to-recognize-a-scam\/\">How to recognize a scam<\/a>. This is a must read article. A few of them are common sense, but the rest&#8230;.it&#8217;s good to be on the lookout.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><font size=\"3\" color=\"blue\">Freebies, Deals and Giveaways:<\/font><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One of our readers, <strong>Randy @ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fiscalzen.com\/\">Fiscal Zen<\/a><\/strong> left a comment about a great new site: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deallinker.com\">DealLinker.com<\/a>. They compile some of the best deals from all the top sites and list them all in one place. Thanks Randy!<\/li>\n<li><strong>My Dollar Plan<\/strong> highlights <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mydollarplan.com\/vistaprint-holiday-card-deals\/\">VistaPrint&#8217;s Holiday Card Deals<\/a>. Get your holiday cards for free, or up to 50% off depending on the item.< \/li>\n<li><strong>Money Saving Methods<\/strong> had several great deals this week! Including: Up to <a href=\"http:\/\/moneysavingmethods.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/up-to-12-free-lip-product-bath-and-body.html\">$12 Free Lip Product &#8211; Bath and Body Works<\/a>, and a Chance to win a <a href=\"http:\/\/moneysavingmethods.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/5-chevron-gas-card-at-least.html\">$5 Chevron Gas Card<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Finance for a Freelance Life <\/strong>has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrsmicah.com\/2008\/12\/03\/3-new-years-worksheets\/\">3 New Year\u2019s Worksheets<\/a> that you can download for free. These are budgeting and freelance spreadsheets and they are invaluable if you don&#8217;t have something like it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Happy Rock<\/strong> tells us how to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehappyrock.com\/2008\/12\/03\/free-christian-audio-book-each-month-mp3-format\/\">Free Christian Audio Book Each Month (MP3 Format)<\/a>. This was really neat! I am definitely doing it. Thanks HR!<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Sun&#8217;s Financial Diary<\/strong> takes a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesunsfinancialdiary.com\/shopping\/use-amazon-subscribe-save-to-save-money-on-items-you--regularly\/\">Amazon&#8217;s subscription service<\/a>.
