United Airlines, my favorite airline to kick around<\/a>, is upping their credit card offer again.\u00a0\u00a0 This time they are offering an unprecedented 50,000 bonus miles for their Chase credit card.\u00a0\u00a0 Here<\/a> are the details.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You have to spend $250 to receive the bonus, which frankly, is a pittance.\u00a0\u00a0 Yes, you can get get enough miles for two round trip domestic tickets, kind of like the Frontier deal that came and went.<\/p>\n

It Is Not So Simple<\/strong><\/p>\n

United’s web site claims “Please note: This is offer is available to select members who are original recipients of a specific direct mail or email invitation. ”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Remember, this is United, almost no information they supply is reliable.\u00a0\u00a0 Sure enough, anyone can take advantage of this offer if you know a few tricks.\u00a0\u00a0 Over at Flyertalk, someone found out how to call Chase and get the offer.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Call United’s Mileage Plus Customer Service at 800-325-0046.<\/p>\n

Step 2:\u00a0 Enter your Mileage Plus number but the wrong<\/em> zip code.<\/p>\n

Step 3: You will be transferred to a representative.\u00a0\u00a0 When you speak to the representative ask about the offer.<\/p>\n

Not only do people report receiving the 50,000 mile bonus offer, but they specifically say that the 50,000 miles are awarded after your first purchase, not after the $250 in spending.\u00a0\u00a0 Some even report instant approvals over the phone.<\/p>\n

Delta Matches, and Remembers
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Delta SkyMiles Amex is also making a similar offer, but these guys seem to have their act together a little bit more than United (not that that is saying much).\u00a0\u00a0 If you go to this link<\/a>, some people are seeing offers of up to 50,000 SkyMiles plus 4 SkyClub (lounge) passes.\u00a0\u00a0 People are reporting more substantial spending requirements of $10,000 to receive the sign up bonus.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Furthermore, they even seemed to know before I applied that I had a SkyMiles card last year, and am ineligible.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 United and Chase, on the other hand, tend to forget you once had a card a few years back.<\/p>\n
