The key structural differences between exhaust headers and manifolds lie in the material and size. Exhaust headers are typically made from lighter, thinner steel, while exhaust manifolds are constructed from thicker iron. Headers are also longer than manifolds. When in use, exhaust manifolds generate back pressure, which limits engine performance. In contrast, exhaust headers provide each cylinder with its own tube, eliminating back pressure and allowing exhaust gases to exit more efficiently. This makes exhaust headers a better choice than traditional manifolds.
