The HSBC Weekend Card was last reviewed on 23rd September 2007

hsbc platinum mastercard
Summary - The HSBC Weekend Card is a novel cash back credit card that allows you to earn 2% rebates when you use the card on weekends (Saturday and Sundays). On regular weekdays, you earn 1% rebates. It also has a 0% apr introductory offer for balance transfers for between 6 to 12 months. Let us look at this card in greater detail.

2% Cash Rewards on Weekends! - The HSBC Weekend Card is an absolutely novel 2% cash back credit card from HSBC. When you use the card on weekends, you earn 2% cash rebates for every dollar you spend on the card. On regular weekdays, you earn 1% cash rebates. There are no limits on the rebates you can earn and you cash back points do not expire.

Annual Fee and APR - The HSBC Platinum MasterCard has no annual fee. You get a 0% introductory apr for 12 months from the date of account opening. You are allowed to transfer up to 3 balances. The apr is either prime rate plus 3.74%, 6.74% or 9.74% depending on your credit profile. The average daily balance method (including new purchases) of calculating balance is used to monthly balances.

Platinum Benefits - As with most platinum credit cards, you will get the following benefits.

  • 24 hour support, toll-free customer service and online account access
  • Free online bill pay
  • Zero liability on any unauthorized purchases
  • MasterCard card global service provides worldwide, 24-hour assistance with lost and stolen cards, emergency card replacement and emergency cash advances

  • Verdict - The HSBC Weekend Card is a most unique cash rebate credit card from HSBC. Presently, there isn't any card quite like this. In my opinion, this card is best combined with another card like the Blue Cash or the Chase Freedom Card where you can earn more than 2% rebates on items like gasoline, supermarket and drugstores etc. The HSBC Weekend Card will be a great second complimentary card to be used on weekends.
