Amex MRO to MR

Hi

I presently have the Blue card with the membership rewards options program. How can I upgrade to the full membership rewards program? Exchanging 2 points for 1 mile does not look like an attractive option to me? I don't really want to get the gold card because of the fees. Is there anyway around this?

I called amex customer service once about this before. You can pay a $40 annual fee for the MR program and earn points for the full MR program rather the options program.

thanks Tiger - looks like I may just do that. Definitely cheaper than paying the $150 fee for the gold card.
