Default "Safe" credit card company?

I'm looking for another rebate card to add to my rotation. I want to replace my Citibank Dividend platinum select since they dropped from 5% to 2% on EDP. The best thing I've found so far, I think, is the Chase Freedom that gives 3% on EDP. However, I stumbled across some forums of some seriously ****ed Chase customers talking about their unethical practices, and now I'm scared. I know banks like Capitol One are well known for their shady dealings like not reporting your credit limit to the credit bureaus to make your debt-to-credit ratio out of proportion, so now I'm concerned Chase might be a bad apple too!

Does anyone know anything about this? Is Chase typically a good company? I know every company has people who hate them, but I mean for legitimate reasons like with Capitol One. I've had Citibank for 12 yrs and they've been great (up until recently, customer service kind of stinks now too), Discover and Amex and I haven't had any of these kinds of problems (yet! knock on wood!). I'm afraid to sign up for a card that will drag me down and never let me go - even for 3% cashback...

I always thought that Chase and Capitol One were 2 of the "better" credit card companies.

Capitol One is pretty good. I have never used any of the cash back or other perks though, at least not to my knowledge.

I had not heard of them. Why do you recommend against them?

My past experience with Capitol One was when they were Bank One and I will steer clear of them forever.
