Don't do it! Even if you pay off your Macys account monthly, as soon as your account is paid in full, they will charge you a $2 fee the next month! This is standard policy- and after 3 calls to have the fee removed, it's still there. They refuse to give pay off balances on their account so they can charge you this fee, and I think they really plan on you not noticing so they can charge you a $35! fee for a late/missed payment. Not worth the risk to your credit, or the headaches.

Run and don't look back. The outrageous 24.5% interest rate is astronomical and Macy's American Express credit card is outright robbing their own customers. This is no benefit; it is highway robbery. Instead of being robbed, DO NOT use your credit card, use another credit card with lower interest rates or shop somewhere else. I always thought Macy's was a fair company, but when I saw my statement and the 24.5% interest rate I realized they were out to rip off their customers.

It's the bill pay system that needs adjusting. I find myself going back 2 to 3 times per month to make sure the payment I thought I made did indeed register. I pay all bills online and have for many years without a hitch. Macy's is the worst.

The color of my card is the Black one. The thing that I really like is the 15% to 20% discount that I get for using the card. I've got a Macys in the Mall closest to my place. I make it a point to pay my bills in full every month.

Well, it's nice to get discounts when you shop at Macy's. But as far as customer service goes this has got to be one of the worst cards around. I was late for one payment by a day or two, and I must have received 3 to 4 calls a day. And this is for a customer who has always paid in full. What a joke this is. I've stopped using the card since (it's in the drawer).

Can I give zero star rating for this card? They closed by account because I did not use it enough!!!! WTF!!!! Stay clear of this card and do not fall into the temptation when the cashier tries to spin a fast one on you.

Love shopping at Macys. And love the discounts. Have always paid on time and in full, so I've faced none of the issues that many here have.

Their computer systems must be from the dinosaur age. It's so difficult to pay online. Even when I thought the bills were paid, I get a late payment. Run from this card. RUN RUN RUN.

I think I found out that Macys has a closing date and due date. If you pay too early, they might (will) apply it to the previous month and you could be "technically late for the present month". So you have to pay before the due date but after closing date so as not to be late!!! The best thing to do is to always pay in full. Or simply forge about this card and avoid all the hassles (which appears to be the common theme here).

What is wrong with their system? Set up auto payments. Then for some reason, it does not work. Then it becomes a late payment and I get no notice that the auto payment is not working. Before you know it, the late payment was reported to the credit bureaus. With my previous BOA account, the reps managed to undo the credit bureau reporting because it was an error on their part. But no luck with Macys.

I had the same problem as Trish. If you use internet banking, email statements or autopay features for your other cards, then give this a skip. Same problem happened. Thought I'd paid everything (on autopay). Turns out "things were not working" so there was a late fee and a penalty fee. But the worse thing is there is no notification letter or email. And my score got dinged after it was reported to credit bureaus!

Have no real complaints about this card. Love the discounts (who doesn't?). Have read many complaints about the payments and systems. But I've always paid in full and use snail mail. So far, that has not been an issue at all. But I love shopping at Macys (like the return policy), so this card works for me. Perhaps I would have had a different experience if I used the internet for the payments. But so far, the old fashion way has worked well.

The thing I really like about the card is that you can pay your purchase immediately at the store. So I use the 15% discount and pay it off. This way, I'm never late.
