I had 2 credit card account with capital one that were 120 past due in 2004. I closed them at that time. I just discovered that they are still open with "Paid or paying as agreed" with 0 balance. I just closed them again was this a good move? When will these negative accounts be taken off my credit report?

I also have numerous accounts on my report that are still open - "Pays account as agreed", 0 balance.. Is this good or bad - and should/how do you remove them if bad?

Should I remove Cards like these :" PAID ACCOUNT / ZERO BALANCE -
ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CREDIT GRANTOR " - "Pays account as agreed $1,000". How?

Should I make the minimum payment on a credit card account that is closed and pay more on the open accounts? Does it matter in terms of my FICO score?

Thanks in advance.

My credit card company (Citibank), closed my credit card account. I had been paying on time and sometimes more than the minimum payment each month for about a year. However, my credit in other areas was not so good and we barely avoided a mortgage foreclosure.

Now that the account is closed and there is still a balance owing, is there any way to negotiate an interest reduction or does it "hurt" my credit score more if I don't pay it at all?

I loved the company that I had the card through and my ultimate request would be to ask them to reconsider, but I don't think that's an option at this point.

Do you have any suggestions? By the way, our credit is on the way to improving going forward as we are in a much better financial position then we were 6 months ago.

Thank you!

Hi,

I'm a college student and my credit card debt got a bit out of hand...I have two cards that have been past due for about 3 months each: a discover card @ $961.99 the interest rate is 29.9% and a Capital One @ $1,085.33 the interest rate is 17.3%...I'm not employeed and have been looking. I'm in school in tallahassee and the job market here is garbage just like the rest of the country. But I really want to pay off my debt in january when i receive my fin aid which will be $2,540.86 after tuition and rent for 7 months are paid. My question is what should I do till January to not let them become any later?
