Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card Review

by Mr Credit Card

Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card from Chase The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card is the most elite level of Marriott Rewards Credit Card and is well suited for frequent guest members of Marriott who stay a lot at their hotels. This is because you can earn a lot of points by using this card at Marriott Hotels. Best of all, you automatically qualify for silver elite status every year you hold onto your card! Let’s check out this card right now.

Let’s start with the Rewards – If you are a cardholder, you can earn 5 points for every dollar spent at Marriott Hotels. You also earn 2 points for every dollar spent on airline, dining, and rental car purchases. You can also earn 1 Elite Night Credit for every $3,000 you spend. You can earn unlimited Elite Night Credits.

Bonus Miles – New cardholders will get 50,000 bonus points after your first purchase.

Elite Points And Anniversary Bonus – Cardholders will receive a free night stay e-certificate as an anniversary bonus. This is valid for category 1-4 Marriott Hotels. You will also receive 15 night credits that will count towards elite status. That means just having this card will ensure a Silver Elite Status because you need 10 Elite Night Credits for a Silver Status. For Gold Status, you need 50 elite night credits. Hence, you will need to spend $105,000 on the card to get that coveted Gold Status (just from credit card spending).

15,000 Bonus Miles After 7-Day Stay Redemption – You will also get 15,000 bonus miles if you redeem a 7-day stay at a category 7 or 8 hotel.

Fees – The annual fee for this card is $65.

Difference Between the Premier Version and the regular Marriott credit card – As we mentioned at the beginning of this review, this card is the upper tier version of the two Marriott credit cards that are available. This card has a higher annual fee ($65 versus $30). But for the higher fee, you get to earn 5 points per dollar spent at Marriott Hotels rather than 3 points. And more importantly, you get a earn 15 elite night credits instead of 10 for the regular Marriott credit card. Though you need 10 elite night credits for silver status and 50 elite night credits for gold status (which means with either card, you are automatically a silver elite status), you will need less spending compared to the regular card to reach the gold status. Card members will also get a free night stay e-certificate which the regular Marriott does not offer.

Verdict – If you are a Marriott Hotel frequent guest member and stay a lot at the hotel, then the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card is a great card to earn more points, and more importantly, more elite night credits. By having this card, you will automatically qualify for a Silver Elite Status because you get 15 Night Credits every anniversary which you can apply to Elite Status (Silver status require 10 Elite Night Credits). Furthermore, you can earn 1 elite night credit for every $3,000 you spend on the card. This is in my opinion, one of the better affinity cards in the market today.
