I was very excited when I first expected 1% cash back on my Capital One card plus an additional .25% at the end of the year. However, after a few billing cycles I noticed that I was not receiving any cash back at all! With a quick call to their customer service, I was able to redeem my reward for a statement credit.
Of course, having to call your credit card company every month to receive your reward is not the reason you have the “No Hassle” card, so here is what you can do:
Call their Rewards Redemption department directly at 1-800-228-3001.
Otherwise, you would call their customer service number on your bill, have them verify your identity, explain the problem, and wait for them to transfer you to the Rewards Redemption department and repeat.
Tell them that you would like your cash back credited automatically.
I suppose this is not the default option so that some people will forget to request their reward leaving their building interest for Capitol One at best, or unclaimed at worst.
Request the reward be sent when $25 accumulates.
They will offer you the option of claiming a reward every $100 or $50, but what is the point. The whole idea is for you to have the cash, not them.
Request a statement credit.
Surprisingly, they will offer to send you a check with your reward. I don’t see the point of going through the hassle of depositing a check when they can just credit a reward to your account. Essentially you just write them a smaller check next month which is far more convenient then depositing an actual check. You have to assume that enough checks get lost or forgotten to outweigh their cost of mailing them.
The result is that in five minutes you have taken all of the unnecessary hassle out your “No Hassle” card.
