i donated to yele.org because wyclef jean’s heart is in his charity. i was also hoping he would focus on the places the big charities overlook, like jacmal. and i donated to wspa.org because they were already on the ground in haiti. it’s always a sacrifice to give money, but when you think about the little things you waste money on, it’s hard to justify giving nothing.

Great idea! I donated to the Red Cross and Yele Haiti. My small donations weren’t much of a sacrifice for me and I HOPE that are used for the purpose I intended.

I donated cash through my church that has a long standing relationship with a sister parish in Haiti as well as donated food through my employer.

Our focus was to give to an organization with little or no administrative costs. Donations given directly to many denominational Missions projects are 100% pass-through. I suspect that could be true of your UMCOR donation. Yesterday we found a home for our donation: Foursquare Church International’s HAITI DISASTER RELIEF efforts with 100% of donations going to Haiti.

I would challenge others to MATCH OUR DONATION. For some it will be sacrificial — for others, it’s an extension of their regular giving. The Lord has blessed us with abundance and it’s time for us to share more of it with those in need. My husband is also considering going (I see they are seeking Haiti team volunteeers at the same website) – he can’t do physical labor, but he sure can help out with orphanages and children in general — clowning, playing games, etc.

I donated to the American Red Cross through my employer. The reason is simple: The American Red Cross is a very reputable organization.

Hey great idea buddy! I donated to the American Red Cross, I Decided to donate to them because of their track record and I try and donate blood to Red Cross every quarter.

There were no sacrifices made to make this donation as they have a easy system to donate via mobile text. I plan on donating more down the line hopefully to a different charity. One of my goals this year is to donate more to charity/church/etc…
