One of the interesting similarities of both cards is the things that you can redeem the points you earn for. For example, we all know that the Chase Freedom's reward program is the Ultimate Rewards. You can earn points and redeem them for many things like travel, cash back, gift cards and merchandise. And it turns out that the Amazon card is also very versatile and allows you to redeem points for these things as well. Though there are no merchandise catalog for Amazon, their online store is essentially one big merchandise catalog.
Because both cards are really rewards cards, I think that the question of which card is better is pretty meaningless. In fact I think they are complimentary. The Amazon Visa will be great if you shop a lot a amazon. And in fact, if you are the type of person that would like to redeem products reward programs, this is probably the best card to get because the prices (and hence points required) at Amazon tend to be lower than many places.
The Chase Freedom Visa allows you to earn extra points from their rotating categories and online store that amazon cannot (though Amazon is an online shopping mall!).
So if you are a cash back person, then having both cards is great because regardless of the cards, you can exchange your points for cash back. The only difference is that Freedom requires only 2,500 points to get $25 in cash back whereas Amazon requires 5,000 points (to be redeemed for $50 in cash back).
If you are considering these two cards for travel rewards, then pick just one because you cannot consolidate your points into one account. Chances are that you will probably earn more points with the Chase Freedom Visa.
