I recently got this card in August. I am a college student and use it for everything. I love that I can use my points to go towards my next vacation, and the Rewards Boost program enables me to rack up the points faster. I only ever had to call about one transaction on my card, and the representative was able to take it off immediately. I recommend this card to everyone. You get more for your money definitely.

Like some posters here, I used to have an airline card (the Delta Plat to be precise). Since I started taking cruises, I got this card and I began to realize how much better it is than typical FF cards. Yes, you can get perhaps better value for your FF if you get exotic first class tickets. But the hoops that you have to jump through, the research is all too much. With this card, it is simple. You use it either for statement credits for your carnival cruise, obc. You get double points when you pay for the cruise and also when you use for s&s. Best of all, if you book a cruise, you have 6 months from the payment to use points. Which airline FF card has that?

This is one of the simplest cards. You simply use points for your cruise and obc. You can use partial points and pay the rest in cash. You have a 6 month window after your payment to earn and use points to pay the rest. The only thing is that throughout the time I have had this card, Barclays sometimes change their web interface and I think it could be a little more intuitive. But otherwise, this is a great card if you are a cruise person or family.

After much research, I've come to this conclusion. There are cards out there that perhaps give you a higher percentage in rewards. In particular, the good cash back cards like Discover and Amex BCE will probably give you more. But, if you are a cruise person, it is really worth getting this card even though the rewards in dollar terms might be slightly less. One of the things that this card has and that others do not, is that after you make a payment (like the downpayment and final payment), you have another six months to earn and apply those points as statement credits towards your other payments. So for example, you use this card to pay the down payment on the cruise. For this you earn double points. Then, in between for the next 6 months, you will use your card and earn points. You can then use those points to apply as a statement credit towards it. No other reward card works like this. For example, to redeem an award airline ticket, the miles must be already in your account.

Use it for all the stuff ie cruise, obc and s&s. I actually take three years to earn enough points for the cruise I want. But since the points are good for 5 years and there is no annual fee on this card, that is fine by me. I have called CSR just once and everything was fine, so no complaints or strong opinion on this.

Our family takes a cruise once every 2 years. We are not able to earn enough points to pay for the whole trip. But it still saves us a lot of money. Will keep this card until we decide to stop taking cruises or if we switch cruise.

I could not be happier with this card. I charge everything to it so I could earn as many points as I can. Every time I use it, I can only smile and dream of the next cruise. Our next one will be in the Mediterranean for 7-days.

I actually really like this card and it is nice that I can use points for my cruise and save. However, when I use the calculate on Barclays site to figure out how many points is needed. At certain number of points, the value seems to change. It looks like a tiered system but it would be great if there was more information on the website about this. For example, it seems like the value of points is affected if you do partial payments.

This card is simple to use. The best advice for cruise folks is just to charge everything to this card. Once you get the card, simply set it up online and you can log in and decide how you want to use the points, be it to pay for cruise or onboard credits. You can also do partial redemptions if you do not have enough points for a whole cruise.

When I took my first cruise, I booked a few rooms for the family that amounted to about $9k. I used the card to pay and it got me 18k points. That got me $180 of obc. I use my card for every charge to earn as many points for the next trip.

I like that there are a few ways to redeem points. I have used it to pay for my cruise, for obc, statement credits (if I have already paid for the cruise).

We take a cruise every year and so got this card to help us save some money. We charge everything to the card and pay it off every month. We also use it to pay for our cruise and get double points. We have not earned enough points to pay for a whole trip but use the points for obc instead. This works out fine for us.

I have this card and while it helps you pay for a cruise (or part of) and you can use points for obs, I think other reward cards give more value. I just got the Barclays arrival card. Though it has annual fees, I earn so much more points with it and I could use the points for cruise as well.

I use this card just to pay for my Carnival cruise and sale and sign. Points are redeemed for cruise or obs. For non cruise spending, I just use my Discover. That may I get to earn more points and cash back than I would simply using one card.

To make this card worthwhile, you have to make sure you use it as follows. Firstly, pay all your carnival cruise with it (since you earn 2X). Pay your bills in full every month. If you cannot earn enough for a free cruise trip, use it for obs and sail and sign. Partial payment using points are worthwhile too. If you do not spend enough to even get decent obc, then you are better off getting a cash back card.

We have redeemed a 7-day cruise. Booked one year out and use points to make the initial down payment. When we have accumulated 10k points increment, we used it to pay again. Ended costing us just about $200 in total. At this stage, I am already accumulating points for our next cruise.

It takes about 2 years for us to earn enough points for a cruise (ie all paid for by points). Since we are retired, we can pick non peak season to cruise. Fall appears to be the best because the summer vacation is over.

One of the rules that you have to know is that you you have 6 months where you can use your points to apply for a statement credit to your cruise payments. For example, after the downpayment, you have six months to earn and use points for that. After the final payment, you have another six months. The same goes for the S&S. This really allows you to "stretch" your points since you do not have to "have the points all at once".

For me, it is better to use your points for the cruise itself. Don't see any point in using points for obc since the return is 1% (ie 10000 points = $100 obc). However, when you use your card onboard, you earn 2X!

I can never seem to earn enough points for a really "free cruise". What I end up doing is to use points for partial credits. It is still better than paying the full price.

There have been many not so good reviews about this card around the web and it mostly focuses on the fact that some cash back cards have got higher cash back than this one. However, for those who are cruise junkies like myself, this card is really worth it. Unlike other "reward cards", you actually have 6 months to earn and use point for your statement credit on your last carnival payment. That means you have 6 months after your downpayment to earn and apply statement credits to that. The points versus value is also tiered so at certain break points, you get more than 1% return. There are no airline or reward cards that work this way. So you need all your points up front before you can book an award.

Everything about this card is great (for someone who takes Carnival). Have been happy with Barclays CSR. The only complaint I would have is the user interface on Barclays website when you redeem points. They change once in a while and I find it confusing sometimes. If there was a star rating system for user interface, I would give it a two star.

Used to have an United card. But when my family decided to start taking cruises, I decided to take the plunge and got this card. All I say is that though you can get great value with miles (like getting first class award tickets to Asia). But it is so much easier to redeem points with this card. The fact that you can apply a credit to your Carnival cruise 6 months after a payment is something no other cards offer.

I am a cruise person. So this card really helps me to "reduce the price". I charge everything to this card. And I basically charge enough to get the whole cruise for free. The Funpoints are good for 5 years so you have got plenty of time for that. A couple of years a go, I got over 120,000 points. That alone paid for my cruise, OBC and even the flights!

You know yourself if you are a cruise person. I certainly am. Vacationing with your multi-generation family on a cruise is simply great. The trick is to spend everything on this card. Then use them for the cruise, but also for obc. Oh, and also use your points for sign and sale.

Love this card. One of the nice thing about FunPoints is that if do not have enough to pay for the whole cruise, you could use all your points and then pay the remainder with cash. As a tip, use the card to pay for the sign and sale when you are on board.
