This was a great card for me for a long time. I was a frequent flyer, but not enough to hit Delta's Diamond status where their Sky Club was free. The biggest perk of this card was having that access, which was recently taken away. Now I'm paying a $450 annual fee for a card that really doesn't do anything the Gold card cannot. That said, I'll be dropping this card (and the ridiculous $450 fee) and finding a better option.

One of the benefits that I was really looking forward to was the ability to transfer MQMs to my wife. Did that once and was told that everything was OK. But it turned out that the MQMs were transferred to my account (or rather not transferred to wife's account). I also used the concierge a couple of times but was not really impressed. I might actually downgrade to the Platinum or Gold version.

I was extremely hesitant about getting this card because of the $450 annual fee. But after thinking hard about it, I finally bit the bullet. Since I fly mainly Delta for business from my hub, this card makes sense. I do meet the minimum $30,000 spend requirement for the MQMs. In fact, I do put more than $60k on the card a year (charge everything to it). The early boarding and lounge access are great features to have. I've also had success with the companion ticket booking.

The key thing for me is the ability to earn MQMs and helping me achieve elite status.

I have been turned down at some lounges because of the front desk person said that there are too many Amex holders who are crowding out everyone and that the lounge is full! Has anyone had this experience. To me, this is one of the biggest perk. But if it is not working as it should, I might consider downgrading to the Platinum version.

Totally enjoy the Delta Crown Room. It makes flying a much better experience. The priority boarding and free first checked bags are also very nice perks. I have booked a couple of companion tickets using the certs. The MQMs can't hurt as well. This is my main card and I charge everything to it.

I travel abroad quite a lot. Since I'm paying $450 annual fee, I would think that the foreign transaction fee would be waived. But it is not. Come on Amex! This is a travel card. Otherwise, the other perks are great.

The first thing anyone has to consider is the annual fee. It is $450 and I would say, rather high. There are lots of perks that come with the card. But I think the key thing is that you have to fly at least once every month to make this card worth it. Otherwise, you are better off getting a no annual fee card. My favorite feature is the ability to earn MQMs. This helps me reach and maintain status faster.

My business involves lots of travel. Since 911, travel within the US has become worse in terms of hassle, TSA checks etc. This card helps ease some of those pains! I enjoy the lounge access and it is great that I can just show my boarding pass and this card and relax in a nice lounge. It is nice that I can get free first baggage and my family and myself. Upgrades seem to come easier as well.

I have had this card for the last three years. The perks are great and the best feature is that you can earn extra MQMs just from spending and using the card. But over the last three years, Delta has devalued their program time and time again. It is just so much more difficult to redeem the flights I want and you need so much more points than before.

Best perk is the lounge access. But be aware that it is only valid on a delta flight, kind of like a lite version of the Skypass Lounge membership. Also like the fact that I can get free first baggage for the family. But I am a little disappointed that Delta has continuously devalued their program.

I can't seem to book any tickets with the companion ticket certificate. What looked like a great perk is actually useless to me (IMO).

I am very surprised that a card that charges a $450 annual fee still charges 2.7% foreign transaction fee. I do a lot of international travel and I think Amex should get rid of this fee (just like the Amex Plat).

As a frequent traveler on Delta, this is my main go to card for all my spending. I am an elite member. So the priority boarding and free baggage perks don't really apply to me too much. But what I really like is the ability to earn MQMs. During some years when I am on the borderline of making elite status, this card really comes in handy. You do have to meet those spending requirements to make the annual fee worth it.
