- How To Redeem Points For Travel? - Unlike the old rewards cards, you do not need to call anyone from the issuer to book your travel tickets. In fact, with this card, you have to book the tickets yourself. But you are free to choose who you want to do business with. So if you want to use travelocity, expedia or any online booking sites, you are free to do so. If you want to book directly with airlines and hotels, you can do so. If you know an offline travel agent, you can also do that.
- Redeem Points for Gift Cards - Recently, American Express have expanded the use of your points by allowing you to redeem points for gift cards. However, the exchange rate is not exactly favorable. For example, you need 3,250 points to get $25 value in gift cards and 6,500 points to get $50 in value. Therefore, the value of one point is worth less than 1% if you exchange them for Amex gift cards. Below is a screenshot of their exchange value.
- Exchange Points For Cash Back - You can also exchange points you have earned for cash back. 6,500 points gets you $50 in cash back. But this means that the payout is less than 1% if you use your points this way and we do not recommend it.
