Airline Credit Cards with No Annual Fee

There are various ways to get free airline tickets through credit cards. The first way is to get a frequent flyer or airline miles credit card. These cards come with annual fees and you only get to earn miles on a particular airline frequent flyer program. Then, there are credit cards that allow you to earn points that can be redeemed travel rewards. The better cards have annual fee and either allow you to transfer points to frequent flyer programs or allow you to earn double points. This page highlight travel and airline cards with no annual fee. These cards will appeal to those who want to redeem flights for lower cost domestic airfares. The reason is that in most of these cards, 100 points gets you $1 in value. If your airline ticket cost more than $400, you are better off getting a frequent flyer credit card because you need about 35,000 points for domestic flights. Below is a list of airline credit cards with no annual fee.

Blue Sky from American Express The Blue Sky from American Express® is perhaps the best no annual fee airline credit card that will suit those who fly SouthWest and/or who book their trips themselves either directly with the airlines and/or with online sites. The neat thing about this card is that unlike all the other cards where you need 10,000 points to get a $100 in reward value, you only need 7,000 points to get $100 in value for this card. Using your card this way allows you to choose any agent you want and get the best deal for yourself.

Chase Sapphire CardThe Chase Sapphire® Card is Chase's no annual fee travel rewards card. The unique feature about this card is that there are a few ways in which you can book your flights. Firstly, you can use their travel portal. You can use or points or a combination of points and cash to pay for your tickets. You can also use any agent (online or offline) and simply use your points for a statement credit. This feature is especially useful if you book SouthWest (since they are on nobody's portal). You can also exchange the points you earn for gift cards of Continental Airlines.

Miles by Discover® Card The Miles From Discover Card operates much like the Blue Sky in that you can choose whoever you want to book your travel tickets. You then have to claim it with Discover and you will get a statement credit using the miles you have earned. For those who like to book directly with the airlines or those who use Southwest (since SouthWest is not on any travel portal like Expedia or Orbitz).

Citi ThankYou(SM) Preferred Card The Citi ThankYou(SM) Preferred Card - $200 in Gift Cards is Citi's no annual fee rewards. It's reward program is based on their ThankYou Rewards program. Their online travel portal is powered by expedia.com

aer lingus credit card The Aer Lingus MasterCard is a gem in the frequent flier credit card space because it has no annual fee and yet allows you to earn double miles. Not many of you will want this card unless you go to Ireland every couple of years.
