Our Top 10 Best Selling Credit Cards

Here is a list of our top 10 credit cards that readers apply from our website. No complicated rating systems. This is not our opinion of what we think are good credit cards, just want our readers are getting. Bear in mind that we write reviews on credit cards, and we have a newsletter. But without wasting any more time, here is our top 10 credit cards.

1. Discover® More(SM) Card

Discover® More(SM) Card
I not surprised that lots of folks apply for this card. It is one of the most under rated cash back credit card. They have a great shopping portal which allows you to save a lot of money when you shop online with internet retailers. They also pay 5% on various categories on a quarterly rotating basis. It is also probably the best card to get if you want to use rewards for gift cards. To top it off, the interest rate is low if you have good credit and they offer 0% Intro APR for 6 months on Purchases, and up to 12 months on Balance Transfers* . It has lots of features and the best way to decide if this card is for you is to actually read our review of the Discover® More(SM) Card

2. Blue Cash® From American Express

Blue Cash® from American Express
The Blue Cash® from American Express is perhaps (along with the Discover More) the best cash back credit card today. It pays a higher rebate on things like gas and supermarkets than other cards. While other cash back credit cards have been scaling back on their rewards, this card has pretty much kept things unchanged. There is a tier formula and a threshold you have to exceed to to earn maximum rebates. But as long as I've have this card (I have it and use it), I've always earned more than 2% rebates every year just by charging things to this card.

3. Citi® Platinum Select® Card

Citi® Platinum Select® Card
I guess one of the reasons why the Citi® Platinum Select® MasterCard® is such a popular card is because they have a reasonably low interest rate, a 0% APR* offer for new cardholders. One thing that is seldom mentioned is that this card has a reward program called Citi Extra Cash, where you can earn lots rebates which you can use to get discounts for gift cards and they even guarantee the cheapest hotel rates!

4. Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express

Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express
The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card is perhaps the most popular credit card among frequent fliers. Not only does it have possibly the best hotel frequent guest program, but Starwood Preferred Guest allows you to transfer points to frequent flier miles with over 30 airline partners (mostly on a one for one basis). If you transfer 20,000 points, you get an extra 5,000 bonus miles! No wonder, this is a favorite with travelers.

5. Discover® Student Card

Discover® Student Card
The Discover® Student Card is the student version of the regular Discover More Card. It essentially has all the same wonderful cash rebate, online shopping and gift card rewards. While there are lots of cash back cards, there are very few for college students. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is probably the best student credit card out there.

6. Chase Sapphire(SM)

Chase Sapphire Card
I will not be surprised at all if the Chase Sapphire(SM) rose in the rankings on this page. Chase has revamped their reward program, now called "Ultimate Rewards". It is quite impressive, especially their travel rewards. You can use their site to book your travel (just like using travelocity or expedia). You can also book any travel with your own agents, and just tell Chase and they will use your points to pay in the following months statement. You can also transfer points to Continental Airlines, British Airways and United. The best improvement is that you can earn unlimited points that do not expire. They have also added lots of merchants to their program. With no annual fee, this card will only gain in popularity.

Chase Freedom(SM) Visa The Chase Freedom(SM) Visa is another popular credit card today. Aside from paying you 1% for every dollar that you spend, you can also earn 5% rebates on quarterly rotating categories and when you shop on their online shopping portal.

8. Orchard Bank Classic MasterCards

Orchard Bank Classic MasterCards - Island
If you have no credit or bad credit, there are lots of "sub prime credit cards' ready to offer you a credit card. Problem is that the fees are simply ridiculous. There is a reason why they are called fee harvester cards. The Orchard Bank Classic MasterCards is the exception because they have the lowest fee structure, reasonable rates and is owned by one of the largest bank in the world, HSBC. This is the card we recommend to those who do not have a good credit.

9. Gold Card from American Express OPENSM

The Gold Card from American Express OPEN SM (Private)
The Gold Card from American Express OPENSM is probably one of the best business credit cards around, especially for those who travel a lot and put a lot on their credit cards (and pay in full each month). Salespeople, consultants or businesses with positive cash flows will benefit from the great rewards this card has to offer.

10. The Plum Card from American Express OPENSM

The Plum Card® from American Express OPEN (Private)
There started to be more applications for The Plum Card when I announced that this has become the official card I use for this site and our business expenses. Why did we choose this card? For various reasons. Firstly, there is no preset spending limit. We could earn unlimited cash rebates as long as we paid in full every month. But for those who need an occasional working capital, this card allows you to pay just a portion of your balance and you will be extended credit for an additional month. This is a valuable for a business to have (witness the amount of credit lines banks pulled on small businesses during the credit crisis) and is well worth paying the annual fee for.
